NHL Insider Frank Seravalli Breaks Down The Kevin Hayes Trade

Kevin Hayes has been traded from the #PhiladelphiaFlyers to the #StLouisBlues in exchange for a sixth round pick. Hayes, who was an NHL All-Star this past season, will have 50% of his contract retained by the Flyers. Why did this deal make sense for each side? Frank Seravalli gave his thoughts on the move.

  1. Cause its a horrible contract even at half, get bad contracts on average players off the books.

  2. Danny B is cleaning up Chuck Fletchers mess. Hayes should have been traded last year just like JVR. This is Chuck Fletchers fault.

  3. With half retained I thought there would be something more. Hayes was really good before Tortz benched him for not shaving his sideburns.

  4. When’s the last time Flyers won a trade? Everyone misses "Keith the thief" days…He got scorers not over the hill vets, bad fighters and low level young players..

  5. Thank goodness, Frank finally figured out that Parayko and Faulk are not going anywhere.

  6. As much as the Flyers want to shed high priced player salaries, you can't put out a roster of all 20 year olds and expect to win some games. Veteran players are a necessity.

  7. That Hayes deal was disturbing from the very day it happened. Solid player but no more than a middle six C
