General Manager Craig Conroy on Sharangovich. “Good size, great shot and can score.” Conroy also noted he can play all three forward positions and is a really effective penalty killer.

There is a lot of overreaction coming from people who have never watched Sherangovich play before. He is a solid player. I was expecting a 2nd + a prospect, but this is likely a better package

People mad that we traded away our “top goal scorer” are really twisting the narrative. Toffoli just had a career year at 31. Unlikely to repeat, on an expiring contract. Oh yeah and he said he wanted out.

Where exactly do you see more value than a pick and a young skilled forward?

  3. tristan1616

I feel like he’s going to potentially be our Backlund replacement, especially if he’s good on the pk

  4. KrolWorld

Such an awesome trade, fans will really love Yegor

  5. DavyDogFr

I’m 100% on board with this trade. Would have liked to see a 2nd round pick but a 3rd isn’t terrible.

  6. SwedishMeatwall

Something else that needs to be said, this guy was loved in the locker room. We need more guys like that.

  7. BlackFalconEscalator

I’m here for the Conroy plan

  8. avmp629

I was still expecting more for a top-50 scorer making $4M. Sharangovich is terrible at faceoffs so he’s essentially a winger who only scored 13 goals and was a healthy scratch at times this season.

Holy fuck we’re actually getting a younger team?

    AND YOU GUYS ARE COMPLAINING?

  10. The-Reddit-Giraffe

We’re just trying to become the most multinational team in the NHL. We now have a player from Belarus to join our Canadian, American, Swedish, Czech and Slovak boys. All we need now is a Swiss, German and Finnish player to complete the nationality gauntlet

  11. TEJISSAJATT

So Alex newhook gets a 1st and a 2nd and toffoli only 3rd come on GM negotiate better

  12. JERUSLAM77

Nhl teams aren’t fooled by a guy having a career year after playing first line minutes for the first time in his career. If tofolli has 25 goals next year I’ll be surprised.

  13. Scissors4215

Consider trading him for picks and prospects was never going to be an option I don’t mind the return.

24 goal campaign in his second season. Bit of a drop off this year but he was playing on a deep NJ team so not surprising.

Rebuild wasn’t an option, so they needed someone who could play right away. I’ll reserve judgement on this trade till the midway mark of the season.

Whoever he is don’t take him to Boston Tre-zza.

  15. Tedders19

I’m really interested to see what this guy can do here. I’m concerned about how he was mostly scratched in the playoffs though. Was it an injury?

  16. scarlet_stormTrooper

Treat him well please. Really wanted him to be with the Devils for a while. Underrated. Idk anything about Toffoli so if anyone wants to give me a reason to be happy about losing Sharangoalvich feel free to let me know.

This trade does not make the flames better today, tomorrow or ever. Should’ve held him until next trade deadline if that’s the best you could get

Devils reddit is loving this trade

Absolutely on board with this, it’s a good deal for both teams and absolutely fair for only a year left on TT’s contract. Sad to see the guy go, but happy to see the return coming out way. I’ve liked Yegor’s game for a while, just looked like he needs an opportunity to play up.

I just watched some tape on Sharangovich and he appears like he’s stalking the puck in the offensive zone and the puck tends to find him in good spots. Watching Calgary last season it felt like they had to exert so much energy in the offensive zone to try and generate low percentage scoring chances again and again. This is exciting to see a guy who potentially has the offensive awareness to play smarter, and looks to have a finishing touch with his shot. I’m excited. Younger player with room for growth vs an aging winger likely looking at regression at this point in his career. Gain some draft capital as well. I really like the deal.

  21. HunrMoon

So sick of our GMs touting how a guy can play all sides of special teams lol

  22. CanadianVoxPopuli

Man, Calgary got robbed on this trade. Toffoli would have generated an additional 1st round pick if they waited until the trade deadline.

  23. hfxbycgy

Sharangovich might very well be just as good but several years younger and cheaper in the short term than Toff. He’s a big guy, loves to shoot, plays everywhere, already three full seasons under his belt. Toffoli isn’t a first liner, we sold high and got a good return.

  24. Thaigerwould

He’s a horrible poker player. I took 50 bucks from home one time at cowboys. But great hockey player ! Love that guy . He’s Belorussian army knife. ! My new favourite flame!

  25. Grimmer026

Do not sleep on Sharangovich. You got a player the devils know they won’t be able to afford when he ceilings
