Literally my first thought when I saw the return for Toffoli was maybe we can do a hockey deal with Garland or Boeser for Zadorov because obviously they are looking to retool instead of rebuild

He fits the mold of what we need but isn’t he a bottom pair guy? 3.75M isn’t cheap. Although maybe with Hughes and Hronek being smaller offensive guys he could pair well with them as a big stay-at-home defender. It sounds like he can play both sides.
A year ago I would have said no way but he really stepped up this year as a solid 2nd-pair option

I’m happy with Zadorov as a rental (≈ 3rd round pick), if we are in a playoff position at the trade deadline. However, he is going to get overpaid on his next contract. And we are not in any position to overpay players with our cap situation.
I’d much rather target players like Soucy or Schenn, who will at most get a 2-3 year term, at below $3M. Boston have a few physical D as well, who will be cheap in a trade and don’t cost much
