Most in the league think it should be Fantilli, which is my evaluation of the players as well. But throughout the draft year, there’s been a significant Leo Carlsson-at-No. 2 camp that sees a big center with game-breaking skill and hockey sense. Sometimes you hear rumors around this time of year and know what is and isn’t real. I don’t know what Anaheim will do, but Carlsson at No. 2 is a legitimate opinion around the league. I’ve heard the Matvei Michkov rumors here. I’m not buying it. I wouldn’t fall out of my chair if they called that name, but it would rattle.”

I’m still thinking it will be Fantilli at 2 (please). But I’m pretty sure Pronman had Wright dropping to 4 last year and everyone thought that was crazy so this worries me a little more than other “insiders” reporting on what the Ducks will do.
I can’t wait for this to be over. Whoever they pick will be the best player they’ve selected in forever.
We cannot panic at a Carlsson pick. The kid is very very good – just watch his highlights. Very smart and efficient player. He could easily slot in immediately and be one of our best players. That said, I’m still holding out for Fantilli. I just love the grit and compete level Fantilli brings on top of game breaking skill. Carlsson clearly has the edge in hockey IQ though so you can see why he’s attractive to our FO.
Michkov gives me FOMO, Carlsson just gives me classic anxiety. I hope these are just rumours. Fantilli is the pick
