  1. The Kings are taking a big gamble. That’s a lot to give up for PLD.

    8 x 8.5 AAV, that’s a Calgary move. There will be regret.

  2. Horrible trade. Might be worse than the Cal Peterson deal. Blake is not competent.

Take Vilardi off the PP. His hands in tight were the difference in our improved power play. Wait 2 years til Kupari fills out and has that size and speed.

    Iafallo makes every line better.

PLD has been unhappy everywhere he has been.

It’s also the message. Fiala, PLD, Danault… Blake is building from outside the organization. A team of mercenaries.

  3. Definitely looks like alot but it's similar to horvat deal. As cap goes up won't be bad.
Having centers of kopitar,Dubois, danult could be really good like OReilly,Tavares, Matthew's in Toronto.
And the same people hating on Dubois hated marchand/kadri/kessel/Wilson.

  4. Blake shouldn't of through in a 2nd round pick I am not a dubios fan but I hope I end up being one soon

  5. You could make your case in 5 to 10 minutes, easily. I clicked off at 3;19 because you were blathering. Being boring is the only crime. Strunk and White; clarity, brevity, clarity, brevity. Obey the principles of NOT being boring – farquad.

  6. For goalie i feel like an underrated addition would be Swayman from Boston. Going to be the number 2 as long as ullmark is there, if not him then sarros or jarry

  7. Should have traded Byfield instead of Villardi! I think Villardi brings so mich more than Byfield!

  8. The more I've thought about this trade the more I like it. Depth down the middle is what you need to win a Cup. While I like Iafallo, he was slotted for the 4th line at $4m and Kupari is basically a 4th liner at this point that may develop some offensive game. While we finally saw the breakthrough from Gabe, his production is still less than Dubois while only being a year younger. The trade also opens up more defined roles for Byfield and Kaliyev in the top 9 under a contract year. While the biggest question mark is goaltending, I fully expect Rob to fill that void with how active he has been these last two years turning this team into a contender.

  9. PLD is a beast and draws a lot of penalties but also commits them. He uses his physicality and strong body to drive to the net but doesn't quote have the follow through to either score or distribute the puck accurately

  10. Let’s first look at the payment.

Hefty price for sure, but I agree with you. The FO had been playing it relatively safe prior to the Fiala acquisition, so to go all in on PLD shows that this organization is SERIOUS about a cup run next season.

Second, I agree with Iafallo and Vilardi. We’ve seen about as much as we’ll get with him and he gets a chance to have a fresh start elsewhere. Vilardi had ONE season, so it would’ve been asinine to offer him a lucrative multi-year. He too gets a chance to get a fresh start and hopefully continue to make strides.

Lastly, we have a huge pool of prospects waiting to get ice time. Hopefully this will get the young guns more experience, and more comfortable in the system.

Big trade, but a necessary evil to make this team for real.

  11. It seems like a lot was given up, but time will tell. I am excited and do agree with you, changes did need to be made.

  12. Was curious at what you fans thought of the price you paid for Dubois. I think he is a stud, but Montreal wasn't willing to pay that price. Good to see you guys looking forward to Dubois, I think the middle for LA will be hard to deal with.

  13. Listened all day to different podcasts and read many comments by both nhl fans and king fans. I'm not sure I have ever seen such a dislike for a trade. Majority of the folks said that Dubois got overpaid, kings traded way too much for him, and that Dubois is not that good and a whiner. Well, my take on all this is, good luck to vilardi , Iafallo and kupari in Winnipeg. Was nice seeing all three contribute while playing for the kings. Want to welcome Dubois to LA, and let's see where kings are in April of 2024. I think it's way too early to judge this trade. Now the next move is to get a 2nd goalie with whatever money is left. Maybe Blake finds a way to trade Doughty, which would give kings around 11 million to play with.

  14. Dubois is slick near the net. I see Dubois as a Mark Stone type who is also slick around the net. Iafallo is underrated. I will miss Iafallo who does a lot of little things consistently. The team who got the best player wins the trade. What the Kings got including some salary dump I am happy. Luc and Blake are not done.

  15. It's a great trade for the Kings. They know Villardi better than anyone– he has a chronic back injury that has caused him to lose a tremendous amount of time. We did not advance against Edmonton two-years in a row. Changes needed to be made. I'm not sure that eventually it's not Clarke paired with Gravikov and Roy is on the third pairing with Spence. That would give the team tremendous balance. Bjornfot is the extra D-Man. PLD has the ability to score 40+. He can skate circles around Villardi– much better skater and explosive. This type of large goal scoring center with upside rarely comes available. Both Kopitar and Arvidsson have their contracts expiring next year. Kopitar will be re-signed but for less money. The cap will also expand. They can only play so many prospects– where do all the complainers expect Fagemo, Turcotte and Kaliyev to play? Durzi was shipped out because Clarke has a bigger upside and Spence has the same skill level offensively– if not better. This franchise has a lot of players coming through the system and now will draft even more talent this week. Relax King doubters, this team is already better than last year… but we do need a goalie.

  16. 1, Prior to and especially since this years playoffs, every GM would like to add a Tkachuk-like player. The Kings targeted PLD as that player and they did what they had to do to get him. Went right after him. Gave up a BOAT load of assets. We'll see if he's Tkachuk-like or Tkachuk-lite. Kings did the same last year with Fiala, though the types of assets relinquished were different. Kings fans seemed pleased with the addition of Fiala. Seems Kings fans should give management the benefit of the doubt, considering the Faila trade,
    2. If you watch the LA KINGS video with PLD addressing the media, he mentions Kopitar was one of his favorite players growing up. Sounds like he's stoked about playing with and learning from Kopitar.
    3. He also sounds very stoked about playing in LA.

  17. Eddie, I rarely disagree with you but this time I do. I don't give Blake credit for making a change that looks to make the Kings worse. PLD isn't worth $8.5m for 8 freakin' years. Plus Vilardi is much better on D than PLD. So is Iafallo. Plus Kupari & a 2nd rounder; way too much for PLD, who has never come close to PPG. And Kings had xlnt chemistry with Gabe, Iafallo, and Kupari. PLD needs to score 35 foals & 80 pts plus play good D in order to change my mind. PLD is not a superstar. Hate this trade so far.

  18. cant wait until we see him play here in LA , hes wanted 2 b a king since he was a kid & gavrikov is a friend, Winn. got solid future that will allow them to do what we have been doing the last 3 years & thats play a ton of young legs early & over the entire season iafallo had his best year so far until he got hurt & gabe will be a solid 25-possible over 30 goals but his D needs lots of work, I was surprised with kupari because he will be solid again great long term young guy but just not tough enough for us we needed EXACTLY PERFECTLY LIKE A DREAM COME TRUE TO GET PLD TO FIT OUR STRONG 4 LINE CENTERS NOW TO MATCH VEGAS & EDM, A TRUE DREAM COME TRUE FOR ME & HIMSELF. KGK! PS. ..Injury is the key 1 guy compared to 4 we lose him even for short time & it could be a sad day for us.

  19. The only thing i still don't like about this trade is that Vilardi is one of the guys we gave up to get him. If Vilardi does too much better wherever he ends up (weather he stays in Winnipeg or ends up somewhere else) than Dubois does in LA , this trade in my eyes will be a fail (especially if Dubois is a complete failure and/or Kupari and/or Iafalo also do well in their careers after their time in LA).

  20. Not going to lie, I’m going to miss Durzi, Iafallo, Vilardi, and Kupari. Each one brought something to the table/contributed positively to the Kings organization in their own way. They also seem to be cool guys on and off the ice. I’ve followed Vilardi, Durzi, and Kupari when they played for Ontario Reign and have cheered for them ever since. Thanks guys for all you’ve done for the Kings. I’ve heard good things about PLD and hope it works outs for the Kings! Hope all these bold moves by Blake get us deeper into the playoffs and get us that cup! GKG 👑 GRG 👑

  21. I think this trade should shows more benefits in years. Kings build a great deep for the Cup in the future. Now they should focus on goalie and maybe reorganized 2/3 lines defence.

  22. Jets fan here. PLD can be frustrating. He'll score you an awesome goal one minute, and then next shift he'll take a stupid penalty which leads to a power play goal. So you constantly ask why can't he just dominate and stop being a stupid pest? The guy is in the 100th percentile at drawing penalties, but the 1st percentile in taking them. So he basically starts shoving fights with lesser players for no reason. This takes him off the ice at key moments in games and disrupts any momentum that he generates for his team. He also has a tendency to shut it down whenever things get tough. He was invisible when the Jets were falling in the standings this past year. He did the same thing in the playoff series vs Vegas. If your coaching staff can fix these things, you will probably have a great player in your lineup. But if not, then you'll see him pouting on the bench by game 20.

  23. Good luck with his shitty attitude. Sure he's singing praises about la right now but just wait till something doesn't go his way. We could have gotten just the second from you guys and this would be a win. You took our locker room cancer

  24. I don't hate the trade but my only question is did we have to throw in a 2nd rd pick? If we were including Kupari then the Jets should have been sending a 2nd or 3rd back to the Kings, especially since the Kings were a preferred trade partner. I know those picks don't usually hit but you never know when you may stumble upon a Mikey Anderson. Losing Vlardi is a tough pill to swallow, I always prefer home grown talent but I'm looking forward to seeing what PLD can bring to the team going forward.

  25. somebody get Blake those pants with the liner inside cuz this trade smells like culo

  26. Thank you. I waited for your comments. I trust your judgement. I look to forward hear from a guest from the jets.

  27. Watched a lot of DuBois while following Blue Jackets for several seasons. Definitely an elite level player and had many memorable moments there.. his consistency was always the X factor.

There’s a long-standing French Canadian connection here with Kings organization..not unlike the Manitoba management group with VGK.

A nice fit here with this Kings team trending big and strong…an enthusiastic group with great compete energy. Looking forward to 2023-2024.

  28. I'm not a Kings fan, but I wouldn't want him either way. He's always demanded a trade from 2 other teams. Granted, he's now playing in the US where he has a chance to with the Cup and signed a big contract he'll be paying lower taxes on, so maybe now he'll be satisfied. He'd better be at 8 x 8.5, because that's not exactly a moveable contract. I like the trade on paper for the Kings, but that's assuming Dubois isn't going to pout all of a sudden and decide he'd rather play for another team. This is a bit like being with the hot girl who left her boyfriend to be with you because she says she "loves" you. The boyfriend she was with because she left some other guy before that. At some point, you're just a sucker and she'll stay with you as long as she's having a good time and she sees something in it for her. It goes both ways. You could switch the genders and nothing would change. People can be like that. A lot of young players are immature, but if you let them get their way every single time, eventually you have JT Miller. Dubois reminds me of a young JT Miller – except that Miller is 30 and wouldn't have found another team stupid enough to give him that contract.

  29. Emotional trade – guys that we saw grow up. I will be watching a lot more Jets games now – PLD is a beast and we will get better
