The Buffalo Sabres may have gotten one of the steals of the draft, selecting winger Zach Benson with the 13th-overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft. Joe DiBiase joins Gil Martin and Hadi Kalakeche to react to the selection and break down why Benson might be a gem for the Sabres this late in the lottery. Are the Sabres ready to finally push out of their years-long rebuild after showing signs of progress last season?

GMKA & team love small sized offensive skilled players. I was hoping for a defensive selection.
The next Jackwagon to complain about size doesnt know hockey and the game today
I absolutely love this pick! Our new #9!! Let’s Go Buffalo!
Lack of size doesn't concern me in the slightest. Buffalo can afford to do this with the core they have in place and their size. Thompson 6'6 225, Tuch 6'4 220, Cozens 6'3 200, Samuelson 6'4 238, Power 6'6 220, Dahlin 6'3 205. Stock the cubbords with potential top 6 players and find the bottom 6 players with vets/picks/ FA's theyre easier to find that way. Same way Briere had to take michkov at 7 is the reason we take Benson at 13, you just cannot pass up the skill and upside.
Imagine a line of Savoie-Krebs-Benson. They'll outwork and outskate any line they go up against.
Isn't DiBiase the guy who thought Buffalo would draft Dragicevic at 13th? lol!
