The theme seems to be mindset, IQ, hockey sense and “fast skills” like puck movement and skating.

I feel like this guy would be fun to have dinner with, just let him talk about whats on his mind and stories of players he’s met

Was Harvey hired by Benning to replace Judd Bracket?

  4. This guy is extremely likeable haha. Not sure if it’s just the charisma but he made me feel slightly better about the weird fourth rounders

Really appreciated his answer to the question about Willander’s tournament performance

Its funny how he sees not giving the usual hockey answers is a plus considering how much energy is put into players just giving safe boring hockey answers.

This is probably an advantage for players outside hockey canada….they always give better interviews than the CHL guys.

  7. Good insight. I know there’s some strategical/diplomatic speak that’s required in these interviews. I mean you can’t just say “yeah we don’t think we got the best guys, but we needed to fill some holes”. But it seems like he really does mean it when he says that they went for who they perceived as the BPA, at least with the first couple picks.

Love insight like this. Been really impressed with the Canucks Social Media Team in the last few weeks.

I like the Willander pick, I think he has a higher end than Juolevi and better physical tools.

Benson IMO could go either way, he’s either the next Debrincat or the next Petan

Allvin’s edition of Meat and Potatoes (TM). 😉

  11. Like what he says, they are looking at players that project into nhl players vs a kid that just puts up points. Whether that pans out let’s see. Regardless of who you pick the odds of finding a player drops significantly in the later rounds.

I do find it odd that he says it’s not his role for development but I’d expect part of scouting is finding guys that can develop? You check in or discuss invites to development camp would be scouting? It’s like when gms put together a team and the coach decides how to use them. But you’d want to give your coach a guy they want and can use? It always seems odd when there seems to be a disconnect between roles and was clear here too.
