  1. Yes, he did amass an insane amount of points for a D Man but in my opinion he's not actually that good at the actual defense part. 101 points but a -26. Should the Norris winner be a more well rounded defender? Might be my hot take though. Either way incredible season again for him when everyone thought his career was in the dumpster.

  2. Apparently it’s the 80s again. At least when Paul Coffey won his Norris Trophies, it was at a time when scoring was everything. We’re not in the Dead Puck Era anymore, but it’s not exactly 1985. The Best Defenseman shouldn’t just be the guy who scores a lot of points. Then again, we award the Best Defensive Forward to the guy who scores 70 points, so whoever is voting needs a dictionary. Guy Charbonneau would never win a single Selke in today’s NHL. That’s embarrassing. The more American the game becomes, the less sense it makes – which shouldn’t be surprising. The game went downhill starting in 1995 and hasn’t made sense since. 1990-94 was still the best era for hockey.

  3. I have followed him all his career and this is such a tremendous season for him. But… his arrogance has increased and he is obviously not very liked by his fellow team-mates. That part is so sad.

  4. Congrats on the Norris, amazing comeback season. Nevermind the haters.

  5. We gotta stop giving this award to defenseman that cant defend. He only had that good of a season because playing the sharks was a night off.

  6. Great season, love Karlsson. Even as a leaf fan that run on one leg to the eastern finals was something of legend. Imagine if he was healthy. Saying that, how does a defence man on a horrible team win the Norris for best defenceman in the league. Should automatically be disqualified due to being on a basement dweller

  7. He deserved an award, but it wasn’t the Norris. He was atrocious on defence, there is no reason he should have won it. There is also no reason there isn’t a points award for defence.
