I’d rather go after more higher end player than give a bunch of middle 6 guys 2.5 to 3.5 mill deals. We have alot of tweener marlies we can give extended look too
I’m excited for the Leafs to have a $9M 4th line and then trade Nylander because there’s not enough cap space.
What I’m choosing to take from this is we’re trading Nylander to the Wings, replacing him in the top six with Reaves and Ottawa overplayed their hand and fucked themselves. I’ll call it a draw for us.
Get me back Downtown Connor Brown please!
If Leafs resigned Nylander and can’t afford depth: “this team is dumb, they only pay soft players and can’t afford good bottom six”
If Leafs trade Nylander, get higher cost/value depth: “this team is dumb, why would you sacrifice skill for depth what a bad move”
Can’t have our cake and eat it too. If change is needed, I don’t want Willy to be the guy out, but maybe a trade being forced ends up being the shake up we need and would actually de-emphasize the core 4.

Would love to see Brown back with the Leafs. Was always sad to see him go to the Sens but it had to be done to get rid of Zaitsev.

Everytime “tough” guy we get I swear gets neutered when they come here.
Could be the culture or the worry they get suspended for questionable hits that others don’t get punished for. Like Clifford’s hit was similar to one of maroons this year. Only difference was the logo on the same colour jersey lol

Am I the only one in the world who never was a huge fan of Brown? He was a fine enough low event player but the way people talk about him it’s like they are describing Hyman which is not how I remember him at all. Wouldn’t mind him back on the cheap but I’m surprised at the love he gets, though I suppose it might be because he came up through the Marlies and everything.
Reaves can’t even get a regular shift on an AHL team. Imagine him trying to keep up with the Leafs.
Oilers can take Murray too lol
Yeah Reaves is cool and all but we are way too hyped about a guy playing 5 minutes a game when he dresses.
I’d be down for a Lindholm/Nylander trade.
Gets us a 2C with a similar contract status and potential value.
