Calling Olli Juolevi a bust is plain stupid | Paul Chapman | The Province

  1. Takes defencemen longer? What about sergachev, McAvoy, or chychrun that were taken after him in the same draft and are already NHL mainstays? Juolevi was supposed to be the best and most complete d man in that draft and should already be in the NHL.

  2. Hardly call Chychrun a mainstay just yet, considering the team he's on.Put him on any other half decent team he too would be in the minors still. McAvoy exceeded all expectations. I like what Tampas doing with Sergachev, I liked him over any other d man including Juolevi.

  3. Sorry but Juolevi is not just fragile, he is also small, meek, and light on his skates. He will not play more than a dozen games at the NHL level. The Canucks (Linden, Benning) just don't want to admit that they should have taken Tkachuk. Just like 90% of the fans wanted them to do.

  4. Hopefully his injury was sustained during intense workouts, since its well known that he's not physically even close to NHL strength.

Also Edler is a bad example. He hasn't been the same since that back injury. He was a physical force, and has been disengaged ever since.

  5. Oh hes a bust alright… Joulevi will never been in the same class as Sergachev or Macavoy. I dont know that Vancouver has ever had a more over hyped prospect at this point I dont ever see him breaking the top 4 even on this awful team. The bad picks are piling up, and its really sad to watch all the success other guys are having from this draft class. Rack up another dud for team Benning. Draft genius my ass…

  6. im actually excited to see him play next year for the canucks! and Hughes, Joulevi and Karlsson 3 fast puck moving defenseman on the blueline is gonna change how the canucks look next season. i pray they sign karlsson and panarin
