Yes the 31st and 37th pick so my new starting goalie and an offensive dman or scoring winger I was hoping they would draft evaporate while we see Newhook gets to be a second line center in Montreal?
Lets them get rid of the RFA number. Great pick up for them.
I don't see Newhook as making that massive step forward.
Former 16 overall pick in 2019 just behind caufield. Hughes took Kakko in 2019 and now he has traded for Dach #3 and Newhook #16 from that draft. Buyers remorse?
The only reason I don’t like this trade is it likely means the Habs are going to trade down in the draft…
Hughes for some reason likes quantity over quality & it sickens me that the Habs refuse to draft elite talent

As an avs fan I don’t think newhook was ever going to crack the top 6 due to the rest of the roster talent, I like the return we got back for him and I honestly think this is a very even trade IF colorado deals one or both of those picks for a good top 6 forward like lindholm
Probably the worst trade by Hughes. The 31st only maybe but with the second pick its a really bad trade!!
I don't know if Newhook is more than a 3C, and giving up 31 and 37 is a lot. Funny how Habs most untouchable pieces(Hutson 62nd, Beck 33rd, Mallioux 31st, Roy 150th) were drafted in the late 1st, early 2nd but are being called ''long shots''. I like Newhook cause he's a newfie and hope for the best in MTL. Colorado probably moves up or is preparing for a BIG move. Lindholm for both firsts, 37th, and Girard??
As an Avs fan, I really like this move. I agree that it didn't seem like he had a future in Colorado. At 31 and 37 I hope we get one or both of Molgaard or Molendyk.
Habs fan here, I'm happy with it. Slight overpay but he's a player I've always really liked.
Pretty good value for the Avs, my concern would be they didn't really get win-now pieces, makes since they might use these pieces as trade ammo. Not really sure what Montreal is trying to do here, doesn't make much sense to me from their perspective. I'd see him as like 3C for them at best?

The final piece to another losing season. Way to go Montreal. You just gave up 2 second round draft picks and another prospect for 1 guy. 3 guys to 1 here in this trade. Montreal is already tanking for the number one pick in next year's draft. Will all the tanking pay off? Because that's what they've been doing since they lost the cup a few seasons back. Can you blame them though? Just have one look at that fan base. They're used to dynasties from the past and now they try and tank as hard as possible. What a turnaround in such a long time. They stole the cup in 86 and 93. Both of those wins should be erased. Then that fan base crying and moaning mostly about whatever. They really don't have a chance this year.
Habs fan talking: overpay. Remove the 2nd rounder and it would’ve been good
He'll fit right in with Montreal's other small forwards
It seems that the Colorado fans like much better the Newhook trade than the Montreal fans; I just wonder why???
