  1. Jacob is a wrong. Copp started the season recovering from surgery and ended up with 42 points, tied with Seider for 5th on the team. Two of the other 4 guys haven't played a game for the Wings yet. He also doesn't mention Perron, Matta, etc. free agents Yzerman picked up last year, just the guys he doesn't like.

  2. Now we know why Detroit fluffed off in their second round drafting a goalie and two stay at home defenseman instead of forwards. SY already had a plan for adding veteran forwards.
This could spell the end of Veleno or more likely Czarnik in Detroit.
Or Veleno may need to go to LW. Zadina? hmmm

  3. I have been a huge Stevie Y fan for years. After what I saw with Vrana I lost total respect for him. After this year’s pickups I am asking what the hell is he doing? This rebuild is going to take years, completely lost faith in him.

  4. Does this make Stevie Y look a little desperate that the wings haven't made the playoffs since 2016 or even made it out the 1st round since 2013?

  5. These people complaing about these signings dont even watch the wings play every single day. Tell me these players arent better then what we had and ill know you have no idea what the heck you are talking about. These guys will no doubt help, our young guys arent ready to come up for another 1-3 years. Thats the detroit way, if you watched them youd know.

  6. SY is the best. He just gives 1-3 year deals so he is in Full power for the next years FA,when the Big Boys get there

  7. They didn't get any lottery luck so they haven't had a chance at top end talent through the draft. So Yzerman has decided to just make a team that's really deep and really annoying to play against. Their last 5 top picks are Danielson, Kasper, Edvinsson, Raymond, Seider. There's a trend there. Also they have a stupid amount of cap space and the cap is going to go up once escrow ends. These could look like decent deals in 2 years.

  8. He managed 52 pts during a contract year on a top tier offensive team… I doubt he averages 52 pts during those 5 years

  9. We need more goals. Debrincat provides that at the age of 25. He should've been our focus, as long as Seider and Raymond were off the table in any discussion. The totality of these signings feels very similar to Holland's middling late 20s, early 30s mindset of just staying alive. We need top-end talent, not middling talent. The cost is what the cost is. Maybe guys like Larkin, Raymond and Seider would blossom if someone comes in and shows them what it's like to actually take control of a hockey game. Signing middle of the road players might teach them to be middle of the road players themselves.Culture and mindset over everything.

  10. Big D men. Medium sized hard working veteran centermen. Younger kids on wing. A couple solid veteran wingers. He's putting together a grind it out team where veterans will be training kids how to compete and play the grind game. Pretty much all 4 forward lines will be "Grind lines". I feel like he only wants a middle of the road team for 2 or 3 more years and wants to draft in the first round at pick 15 or less a couple more times.

  11. JIMMYTHY TIMMOTHY!!!! if he trades out Copp and Chiarot with some salary retained we'll have the Cheese left to add another player of Larkin's calibur and well be right in the Mix with Buff fore years to come> and still have the abillity to resign Moritz, Jonatan, and Sandin when they are superstars.

  12. Detroit signed a DAM good player in Compher
The Avs wanted to keep him badly
    Just could not afford him
I wish JT much success except when he plays my AVS !

  13. I like the signing, a little more AAV and term than I prefer but in an underwhelming free agent market this year, You take what you can get. It’s not an earth shattering signing by any means but it is should help the Wings. Not a “genius” signing, but definitely a solid one, and not “overrated” as some would suggest. I would have preferred O’Reilly or Killorn but I don’t think Yzerman didn’t at least try to get them. Anyway, I would rather wait to see how the season plays out before determining how this deal goes.

  14. Why didn't they just keep Tyler Bertuzzi instead? Same age same cap hit and a much better hockey player. Makes no sense.

  15. I'm not against this signing I'm just wondering when Yzerman is going to get that elite goal scorer. Where is DeBrincet or Conner or Konecny?

  16. This, I just paused before I even see your podcast. I'm 2nd generation from Canada, my dad was the first. Now I'm going to listen, hopefully I subscribe.

  17. Okay, I kinda see Steve’s point. If it is what I think it is, then it’s genius and the wings will be a dynasty team in six years.

  18. The wings have money to spend until their prospects are ready, or until they have the right prospects. They have money and time to spend. It wasn’t Yzerman’s team until the 3rd year of him taking over. He’s going to experiment while developing prospects.

Until you see him sign a big name, do not expect him to rush this team to contend.
