0% chance PLD goes to the Wild.
The Wild have about $2M in cap space and PLD is reportedly going to get between $8M -$9M per. He has requested trade twice and as big of locker-room cancer as Parise and Suter.
Re: the current PLD saga, I believe his agent Pat Brisson is simply posturing. He has one goal in mind, that is to get the best possible one-year "rental" deal for his client. By the way, this is also a great predicament for the Jets, a win-win so to speak. Personally, I am convinced that Dubois ultimately wants to become a Hab, and that at the end of the day he will gladly accept from Kent Hughes a contract offer similar to that of Suzuki or Caufield. However, should he sign an 8-year deal with another team à la Matthew Tkachuk, well … his true colors would finally be revealed. If that turns out to be the case, well … so be it. The ball is in his camp.
That being said, I'd be very much surprised if any team would take a chance on signing PLD on a long-term contract given his track record of always abandoning ship, i.e. Columbus, Winnipeg, and let's not forget when he was in the minors.
This guy is not centering you to a cup. He is a high end 2C. He has never even scored 65 points in a year and wants $9mil. This would be Parise 2.0. Good player but not a great player. Pass. Plus he is a malcontent who only wants to play in MTL.
Give them Zucarello and then we might be able to do something. Otherwise, MN has almost zero cap space!!!
