Habs Trade Edmundson for Picks, Hughes Responds to Reinbacher Critics
Montreal Canadiens trade Joel Edmundson to Washington Capitals. Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes responds to critics of David Reinbacher.
The hate for Reinbacher is sickening. When you see how hostile the media and fans are to players, it is understandable why some players don't want to be a Hab.
In a couple of years every team will have more money, so bidding will be higher to acquire players. Some teams will be salary cap strapped, and others less so. Same as always. Montreal is in a relatively good position because they're an uncompetitive team. But the extra 4 mil. isn't an advantage because everyone gets it. It's not the money, but how you manage it. We'll see how Hughes does.
"upset" is not the right word when describing all the hate towards Reinbacher. There were insults on social media. Some of the so called fans hated Reinbacher. Fans are silly and I would even say mentally handicapped because they don't understand that it was Hughes who made the selection. you can't blame Reinbacher. Montreal Canadians are the WORST franchise in the entire league. I hope that this team will experience a lot of losing down the road. It's disgusting what happened to Reinbacher. Lot's of idiiots and mentally handicapped people in Montreal.
When I heard Rienbacher had to delete his instagram because of death threats I was so sickened! It’s one thing to be disappointed because you liked someone else. It’s another the attack him personally because he got picked. Any of those “fans” that did that are such disgusting human beings!
5 th pick would have been a top end player ..Thats who the Habs got ..David is slated to put more minutes on ice than any other top ten available to the team so great move ..Def. takes longer to develop which will be good timing for this rebuild ..
Why complain about the return for Eddy ? Don't people understand that if another team would put up more HuGo would have accepted ?..Good that Eddy has another team and we got a couple future picks ..
Nate is taking his kid brother back under his wing to try and help him out in life ..Nate looked after him here on the East Coast while Moosehead team mates ..He drove Jon to practice and around town ..This says a lot for Nate in reaching out to save Jon ..
If anyone wants an explanation kinda what management were thinking… there was a big drop off from forwards if we had went Leno.. they weren’t taking michkov for a multitude of reasons…aside from the actual player he’s signed for 3 more years and you have no control over his development or rights… meaning he’s not getting enogh ice time, there’s nothing you can do , you want to work with him in different areas, nothing u can do, he gets traded to another team and gets sent down.. etc.. you can’t even get him in your rookie/devlopmeant camps….he’s got the offensive skill but hoenslty they looked at him and as a sub 5’9 one dimensional winger that’s not the best skater and doesn’t rlly project many of the qualities teams at looking for in a complete player… there’s absolutely no gurantee that when he comes over he’s going to be this two way 90-100 point winger that the media and everyone assumes he will be… I rlly think it’s going to take alot for him to get to that caliber, strictly because he’s not 6,3 220 and a complete beast like ov was and a guy like kaprizov came into the nhl at 25-26 and played a much more explosive style of game…I think it’s crazy to assume he’ll step into the nhl and be 100 point player… a lot of people around the nhl project him closer to a taresanko which I totally see… with everything going on in Russia and it was also reported his dad tried to get him out of his contract early and we all know how terrible that situation was.. messed up world… it’s a rlly uncertain and unknown situation, are system is so loaded and we have so many studs that are under 24 including Suzuki cauf + blue chip prospects… we’re not like Philly… we were in no position to make this gamble at 5 in pivotal year of rebuilding, when they had a chance to add this crafty, long rangy defecman who is head and shoulders the best dman of this class and wasent getting past zona … I also think they believe in Hughs ability to add via free agency or trade 1 or 2 more high end forwards with experience to Insolate these young forwards and fill out are top 9 rather than having to look for that calibre dman down the line… Huston and reinbacher will step in and solidify a loaded blueline as we start contending.. the more I look into reinbacher the more I’m impressed… The more I watch this kid the way he skates and sees the ice he’s got that little mans handle in a big rangy defenceman…he could be that type of player back there we need so desperately.. filling that now is calculated long term play… People are frustrated we missed out on that top 4 , who look like they can be elite type of forwards but with the drop of off forwards if we had went Leno and we were sitting at 5 in the draft this was a great pick
I took a tour of the centre bell… the other day my first time and I’m from the US so it was very special / of course my fav team!! So got lots of pics with literally everything!! I love the place no bad seat in the house!!!
I'm not unhappy about the Reinbacher pick. I trust that Hughes / Gorton know what they are doing. Arizona would have taken Reinbacher at 6th if we hadn't.

Wished we traded Hoffman to Arizona just for the sake of opening up a roster spot, even if it means getting a bag of pucks in return.
Meanwhile, getting stuck with Armia's contract instead of buying it out is plain stupid.

All that hate Reinbacher is getting makes me ashamed to be a Habs’ fan… not his fault the Habs drafted him.

If you look at David Reinbacher’s face closely, he has a resemblance to Guy Lafleur, especially the eyes.
I thought minute eating defenceman were so valuable. And now we get nothing for it. Maybe xhekaj’s cousin at next years draft?
How do you win a Stanely Cup? Goalies first, Defense second, and Forwards third. The Habs are doing the right thing at this stage.
In 2 years when we need to sign our 6 'top 2' D Men
Definitely wasn’t upset, stay classy folks.
I expected for then to pick Reinvacher. So no surprised.
Go Reinbacher go!!!

Reinbacher is a great pick and the one we should celebrate. People who went after an 18 year old on his account are not IMHO fans at all.
Byron went to free agency too. No ltir for him now.
Welcome back dale very soon!! Ty dekes.
Cool it with the hate…..it's just entertainment….get real
