Twitter is right. Habs lose this as it is now. A 1st and high 2nd plus a prospect for Newhook is too much. More so we needed a good goalie prospect in this draft and now will lose that missing those pics. Only way this turns to a win is if somehow MTL packages Newhook and 5th overall plus something else to move up to get the 2nd overall pick.
Remember what they said about Kirby Dach the year before he came to Montreal? He certainly defied expectations last year. Habs are hoping for the same with Newhook. If you think they got fleeced, it’s about 3-4 years too early to tell from really knowing. Let Martin St Louis do what he did for Caufield, Dach, and then we’ll see.
Having watched newhook as an avs fan he has no forecheck can’t win faces. His best and possible asset is sitting in the obituary spot and trying to take shots. Extremely underwhelming player

If he’s supposed to be in the envisioned future top 6 idk how I feel about this, that’s going to be one tiny core. Only Slafkovsky and Dach will be above 6 feet.

As an Avs fan, I will miss Newhook. I think he still has a lot of potential. But Colorado can sure use the picks. So it might be good for the Avs.
