The agents need that bigger commission

  2. FSR1960

No more over rated then the rest of the leafs.

If 90+ point winger is worth more than $11M (Pasta, Panarin), isn’t 80+ pt player worth around $10M? I guarantee that Rantanen and Marner are getting significant pay raises in two years.

    Yes and No

On teams around the league, probably over-rating himself.

On Toronto, probably not over-rating himself.

They’ve given Austen, Mitch, and John enough scrill to not show up post season. Not really being as productive as they should for their price tag I guess.

So for him in Toronto, seems like there’s a precedent set to pay more and not get as much back post season.

At this price range, players can only let you down because the expectation in performance at that price range is just too high.

No way is he worth that. If that’s what he wants his head is bigger than his numbers.

  7. Mr_Sausage__

Yes he is at least a 9 million per year player.

I say this based off of other contracts. Not if he is actually “worth” it.

For a guy that likes to stay on the perimeter, no way.

  9. FilmNoirOdy

With a sport like hockey I can totally see going hard for the bag.

Doesn’t deserve what hes asking for, should be traded

Yes at some point the top leafs stars need to realize 4 of them can’t win the cup. So If he wants to get paid on the higer end of what he could make he probably shouldn’t be a leaf.

Without a doubt. He’s been a top 25 player in terms of production and a 9 million dollar contract puts him right in that range.

I feel like Nylander is a 9m a year guy, for sure. Depending on the cap increases over the next few years, maybe a 10m guy.

I think the Maple Leafs are offering a very good price. Deals over 10 Million AAV should be reserved for 100 point players, and top end defenders. Nylander is an elite player, but 8 Million seems fair for a PPG player.

  15. Rattboy99

I mean he also doesn’t get injured hardly ever

  16. Russ_t-100

More money means higher chance of winning the cup

  17. Reallyme77

It’s simple negotiation stuff. Team says $8m, player says $10m and they meet somewhere in the middle.

  18. EyeHeartBidets

That’s not asking the right question.

The right question is whether he’s worth 10% of your cap since it will be $90m in 2 years. I say yes.

  19. miseenplastique

In this market and on the verge of a cap jump, I’d say between 8.5 and 10 is reasonable depending on where and what term.

For the Leafs, I think he’s right to demand a commiserate rate of pay with the other core guys given their track records.

Seems more than a bit like he wants to get paid or get out.

  20. Emergency_Fuel8674

He’s at least worth the league minimum

  21. Bubbafett33

I support Toronto going from having three players in the top 10 by salary to having 4 of the top ten highest paid NHLers.

    This is a winning strategy.

  22. No-Level9643

8 tops. That’s what happens though when the “leaders” on the team only cares to get rich

  23. weedeater661

Is anyone really worth 9 million a year to play a game for a living

  24. 2thiccbigchungus

No chance is he worth that much

  25. Small-Wolverine-7166

If Mitch is worth $11, he’s gotta ask for $10.

  26. beerock99

Well did u see the size of his helmet?? Can’t be cheap
