Some info: https://www.capfriendly.com/players/filip-zadina
Filip Zadina is a 23 year old 6’0/190 winger making $1.85M this season and next.
He averages 13 minutes and is described as a hard skater and defensively good:
– oiSV% of 93.4%, good for second best on the team.
– GA/60 of 1.8, best on the team.
– Sixth best CF% relative of 4.4.
He was drafted high, over some big names, and was supposed to be a big goal scorer. I wonder if the Avs put in a claim. I haven’t watched him much but on paper this feels like a classic Sakic/MacFarland low risk high upside signings. I know they usually cost 50% less and we already have a Drouin, but the roster isn’t looking very deep atm. In my opinion.

Drouin has had more success than Zadina, and Drouin’s issues are more health related than game related (unlike Zadina).
I’d rather wait to see if Toronto puts Timmins on waivers and bring him back.
Wouldn’t hate Zadina though
I’d prefer cap space go to Colton and then maybe guys like Hino and Nosek for cheap.
I’ll be honest I have no idea what any of those advanced stats means.
is he injury prone?
Man I still remember the 2018 draft where it was a big deal that montreal passed on Zadina amd he made a comment about being excited to put the puck in the back of their net.
The guy just never really got it all together I guess.
Yes. Give me.
As middle 6 winger. Yes please
I can see us going after him
At $900K he could have been worth a shot, at $1.85M? No way. Yzerman offered him to everyone and got no bites – there’s still talent there, but we can’t waste our cap space hoping he figures it out with the Avs.
Personally I’d *love* if we got Zadina, and am absolutely hoping that the Avs (and no one ahead of them) put in a claim
He’s very solid defensively and great in transition, sounds like he’d be a great fit in COL. We have the perfect spot for him on the 3rd line too, running Wood – Colton – Zadina
If you get him and it doesnt work, can always waive him and move on
Fuck it, might as well put in a waiver claim right? Dudes only 23. Seems like Wings fans are disappointed, but not necessarily sad to see him go and are warning other fans about him, just like Dallas fans did with Nuke. Totally different players and circumstances but a change of system and scenery can go a long way.
