My guess is he’ll want to wait to see if the team is in the playoffs this year. He’s made it clear that he wants to play in the postseason more than anything. Not that he’s actively looking to get out, but he wants to win more than anything. I’ll laugh if the team misses the playoffs again and he walks himself to UFA status. If they’d gone into a rebuild from the moment Pettersson arrived, they’d be a playoff team now. But they didn’t. And now their excuse is that they’ve made the playoffs once in 10 years. Gee, I wonder how that happened? But hey, let’s continue doing the same things that led to these lost seasons and expect a different result. What’s the definition of insanity again?

Pettersson sjould come in between Matthews and and Aho. He is better than Aho, bu a little but does not have the stats of Matthews. However, if he takes another step and hits 110-120 points before next contract who knows. If I were EP, I would wait out this season and see how the team goes, if its no playoffs again, or they barely get in and loses in first round with out a chance, Im out if Im him. He will get money wherever he plays, go where you can win if its not Vancouver.
