DeMelo hit on Marner – Have your say

Dylan DeMelo put this hit on Mitch Marner in the corner. Marner’s face was scratched open in multiple places. There was no penalty called on the play. Should there have been? Have your say!

  1. Just like the Kucherov hit on Barkov earlier, Marner attempts to reverse after DeMelo has committed to the hit. DeMelo finished his check much more forcefully than Kucherov. No question that this is a minor for boarding. I can understand if a major or suspension were assessed but I would personally call it a minor. Really surprised there was no call on this play.

  2. I'd give it a minor, Marner turned when DeMelo was only a couple of feet away, and in real time, that's not much time to change course or stop when you're on ice moving with some speed. He looks like he lets up a bit even, unlike some others who are leaping into the air to make sure the head is the main contact. Marner was so low, the head definitely got squashed against the glass, but… again, he turned at the last half second.

  3. Not much of a tough call. It's a penalty. Whether you think it's more than that is debatable.

  4. The D.O.P.S has suspended Marner for 3 games for hit hit on DeMelo… what it was the other way around?… good old fashioned hockey play no need to look at this one.

  5. I don't think it should be a penalty. DeMelo was goning to hit the shoulder if the opponent had not placed himself in a vulnerable position immediatly prior to contact.

  6. More of a boarding call than Perfetti's dive. (And the typically stupid Dubois retaliation nonsense? Don't get me started!)

  7. No suspension or anything but definitely should have been 2 for boarding, it’s an accident when you high stick someone too(unless you’re kusnetsov) it’s still a penalty

  8. Lmao! Marner crying about this hit is almost as entertaining as him hearing footsteps and shooting the puck over the glass to avoid getting hit during a playoff game. Def 11 million dollar player right there 👏 🤣🤣🤣

  9. Should have been a whistle, officials miss or do not call infractions consistently, I appreciate how the Toronto haters literally are blaming Mr. Marner for the boarding when he was going for the puck and Mr. DeMelo who lined him up with three strides then glided right into his back, so no matter what direction Mr. Marner was going or attempted to go he was getting boarded
