  1. Hard to believe, but Jost is in NHL since he was 18 years old. Want to believe that all this cap space math is not because overpriced vet like Giroux

  2. Sturm is gonna cost more than 2 million next season, so the wild basically just locked up a bottom 6 center for next year.

  3. Jost is an amazing dude. Go check out the video of him and JT Compher going through a haunted house (on Avs YouTube channel). Dude is just super likeable. Wish him the best in Minny minus when we play him. Can't wait to watch Sturm.

  4. Jost seems like a great guy, but this move makes the Avs better; I'm all for it. Go Avs go!

  5. Looks like the end of the road for Jankowski. Too bad. The Flames took a lot of heat for drafting him where they did, but for a very brief time it looked like it might work out. He had a great NCAA career, and showed flashes early in his time with the Flames, but it didn't last. Looking at that draft (2012), it was pretty much the weakest draft in this century, so Calgary didn't lose much by gambling. The players taken around his spot, but right after, who turned out better were Brady Skjei, Tanner Pearson, Mike Matheson, none of them world beaters. A couple of good players taken way later, like Parayko and Pelech, but bringing them up is easy second guessing because nobody was talking about them as first or second round picks at the time. We waited a very long time for Jankowski and it turned out to be a fizzle. But that's sports.

  6. I think the biggest thing is that we would not be able to afford Sturm when his contract is up at the end of the year. We’re gonna be running into some big cap issues in the off-season due to all the dead money for Suter and Parisi, along with trying to re-sign Fiala too.

Hoping that a change in scenery does Jost well. Fiala obviously struggled in that regard earlier this year as well, and since being paired with Baldy that’s pretty much evaporated. Hopefully Jost can do something similar.

  7. I think this means Bill guerin does not belive in the team. The Minnesota wild just got even smaller. He is a good player as I understand it, but I think Bill did this for his potential. If he does not work out he is gone this summer.

  8. Damn Jost was rumored to be part of the Giroux deal if he is traded i wanted the other rumored pieces if we where to lose Giroux.

  9. Avs won the trade. They got the slightly more productive player, who is also bigger AND costing only 36% of the cap hit. Avs are obviously going for it this year, so the lower cap space of Sturm means more than the better contract status for Jost.

  10. Regardless of what happened in the league, I think the cat won this news video! Poor kitty to have Dad not hear their telepathic meowing and just ignore them like that! 😝 LOL.

  11. So the Avs, who don't have to worry about Landeskog's $7M cap hit for the rest of the season, now have an additional $1.3M free to go after a deadline acquisition?
If (when) Gabriel returns for the playoffs, the West had better look the fuck out.

  12. Hard to know the winner untill a few games have been played.
For example, eikel has tanked Vegas.

  13. Hey Shannon I see there’s no reviews for tonight’s game and it’s midnight… are you okay? If you’re just taking a break please know it’s well deserved and I appreciate and look forward to every video. I love you.

  14. Herzlich Willkommen to Nico and good luck to Tyson father son and holy Jost. May he score phat in the future amen.

  15. I think both teams win the trade. Avs have similar production at a better price, Wild have hopefully better production that's cost controlled for another year.

  16. As an Avs fan, I'm sorry to see Toasty (my nickname for Jost) go.

But I actually love this trade for the Avalanche — and for Jost — especially if the Avalanche can retain Sturm going into next season.

Jost still has a lot of skill and a lot of potential, but he just wasn't going to be able to crack the Avalanche's top 6. Playing in Minnesota will give him an opportunity to play minutes better suited to him, and I think that's great for his development. I'm not stoked that he had to go to the Wild of all places, but it is what it is.

Aside from size and PK, Sturm also helps the Avalanche in an area where they are one of the worst in the league: faceoffs. If the Avs can sign Sturm to an extension, it will be a mutually beneficial deal.

  17. Hate to see Josty go. Such a huge glue guy. That’s a kick to the locker room but also one that maybe wakes everyone up a lil bit more and reminds them that they’re here to win, not be the closest of friends and good guys.
Perhaps this deal will be better assessed post TDL when we can see how it possibly/hopefully correlates some more depth adds.
Would’ve liked to have seen a pick, Nate Benoit, or Simon Johansson come back to balance it out a bit considering Jost’s pedigree.

  18. As a Wild fan I'd say the Av's won today. I think the Wild are banking on Jost living up to the draft day hype he had, through a change of scenery. IOW banking on his potential so time will tell, as is the case with most any trade.

  19. Avs win big time host is like having a baby brother playing on your team. No tough gets knocked down always, can't finish on so many scoring changes. If avs play Vegas plus Calgary they will need the size. Remember Dallas and Vegas in past years.

  20. Love the push by Joe Sakic to "get bigger" in a couple areas while shedding some cap. I bet big things are afoot for later this week! #GoAvsGo

  21. Big fan of Nico sturm. I believe he’s a very underrated forward that plays a really good defensive game. Gonna slide well into the bottom 6 for the avs. Also was a valuable pk for the wild.

  22. Long term….Minnesota wins. Colorado is making cap space for another move, and gets a big checking center who will be a UFA.

  23. I guess Couturier is the next captain if/when Giroux gets moved

  24. Well, went last night to Wild Bruins. Jost centered the 4th line. He’s not big. Great feet quick to get up to top speed. Competes hard. Won some face offs. First impression is Jost is okay.
