I’ve briefly looked on Twitter for this “insider” with no luck.

I’d see why the sharks would like that — only retaining 2.5 mil is pretty nice.

Edit: and in no way do I condone two firsts for EK65.

If this is true, definitely comes down to cap retention. They already got the blunt end with our Burns deal. Sharks probably didn’t want to hold like 7mil in retention just to have 2 defenders play for us. Really can’t blame sharks if pit offered that much for him.

  3. As long as the 3rd team that takes useless Granlund’s 5M contract isn’t the Canes, this is good news.

So the penguins show as 1.5 over the cap and in the deal they only move out 5M in granland plus 875 for PO. So take on another 3M.

While it works in the off season cap constraints I don’t know why the sharks would be taking such a small return and the penguins would need to then make quite a few moves to get under the cap.

Yeah if I was DW I’d let them have him for that. Just seems odd pens would leverage their future like that considering they’re close to needing a full rebuild.
