The Caps will want someone who will feed Ovi apples. They will want Mitts. I believe their primary goal is to get Ovi the record. I don’t see them trading Wilson without a passer who can help Ovi.

Wayne , I would do this trade in a hart beat . Washington would never go for it . I like the defenseman we got in free agency,but there is a glaring need of someone like Wilson.
i feel this is alot for just a one year contract, if we got him with a 3 year extension no doubt would do it, but it seems a little rich for a potential rental if he wouldn't want to stay. Don't get me wrong i would love having Wilson on this team, but if it's only for one year i would rather package them up for something else, or try again if the caps are out of the hunt come trade deadline time and his price would be cheaper. Getting him in a trade would have to guarantee an extension if we give up that haul, we can't panic now when we are right on the cusp of being a playoff team, one of the deepest prospect pools in the game, now that we have benson in the system, we have the ability(IF NEEDED) to use these higher end prospects as trade bait, like kulich and rosen to get stars. No need to overpay now, just wait until a team needs to move someone or they request a trade and get a "pennies on the dollar" type of trade We are in a position where we have enough skill we don't need to overpay to bring in player I.E like we did with skinner even though it was more of the contract overpayment.
I don't think Olofsson is tradable. Washington can't be stupid enough to take him for Wilson. I think the Sabres are going to have to basically give him away or buy out his contract and let him return to Europe to play.

I like the idea of Buffalo getting a guy like Tom Wilson. I dont think this team has many weaknesses but the weaknesses they have are glaring. They definitely need some size and physicality and better defensive play
