Episode 2 Jared McCann

In his first long form interview, Seattle Kraken forward Jared McCann joins Luke Gazdic to discuss his journey from being a “scared” 1st round pick to a 40 goal scorer in the NHL. McCann opens up on the struggles of early failures and multiple trades and how he overcame “dark days” to find his path. The 27 year old also touches on his time with the Vancouver Canucks, playing with Sidney Crosby in Pittsburgh and his 72 hours as a Toronto Maple Leaf.

  1. Thanks Luke for addressing the totally un called for hit…what goes around comes around….

  2. Love McCann such an insane talent to have and an overall champ and a half. I'm excited for what's to come with him and the rest of the team! Lets go Kraken!

  3. Classless that Cale didn’t even reach out to him. I use to respect Cale thought he was a great player and I was a fan of his. I lost all respect for him. McCann is a class act

  4. Loved watching McCann on the pens. Felt like he didnt get enough opportunities there. Was happy to see him goto Seattle and net 40. Hearing his story, its great to see his success. He deserves it.

  5. Great interview, Kraken fans do not get to hear extended conversations with our players very often. Just wish it was longer!

  6. Good to hear the mental side of things not just for dudes but athletes as well.
Easy to put a number (literally) on these guys and check them off like inventory- and obviously they understand the business side of it – but no matter the dollar sign on the paycheque- it doesn’t erase all the pressures of life and the mental/emotional rollercoaster that comes with being human.

  7. Great interview definitely worth a sub looking forward to more like this

  8. Came here for gaz, left loving jared. What an awesome story, humble guy who stuck with the program and eventually found the success he knew he could have. A great story for everyone here, no matter their profession in life. Good things take time. Stick with hard work, believe in yourself during the dark times, then celly the successes when you finally break through. All time gonger!

  9. Having been a big McCann guy since the Canucks drafted him, I'll never forget the day we traded him for fucking Erik Gudbranson. Ruined my day in Prague. I also thought it was clear that the 'character concerns' were the result of an anxious disposition rather than being an asshole or anything like that. Great interview, nice to see him open up about it.
