He’s not wrong. This team was too focused on winning in the moment, when we weren’t really built for deep playoff runs. Never felt right about us letting McCann go, kid clearly had skill.

Jim Benning: worst GM in Canucks history. He was an even shittier player than a GM too. Maybe Linden will come back now that Benning is gone.

I can’t disagree and it’s not surprising, management was a shit show but what is this random stint, the boohoo tour?

‘I was just shy and quiet’

Andrei Pedan went on record and called you a POS (and I think it might have been a year after leaving the Canucks organization).

You really think he did that because you were ‘quiet’?

Matt Bartkowski’s mom (!) called you a POS.

Has anyone EVER heard of a players mom talking shit about one of her sons teammates ??? Not only did she do that publicly, but you’re saying she did that because you were simply ‘shy and quiet’?

I’ve followed the NHL for 40+ years and never heard of a single NHL player (especially a rookie) get called out by name not once but twice in 1 season.

Now, it does seem like you’ve gotten your shit together and are a better person/teammate, so good on you. But c’mon, no one was calling you out for being shy.

We had an older team. McCann and Virtanen were hanging out. They were called out by the Sedins (and maybe Burrows too) for not being serious enough about their game/career.

…I think management thought they had to separate the two of them, and they traded the the wrong guy of the two (because they held Virtanen in higher regard).

So, in essence, I think the Virtanen pick screwed us twice:

    1 the Virtanen pick itself

2 forcing us to trade McCann to ‘save’ Virtanen

One of the many reasons a Canadian team will never win the cup in our lifetimes ever again. Crap management, lack of patience, and rushing guys to the NHL. Just look at the amount of of starting goalies these franchises go through(except Montreal) it’s crazy. Constant rebuilding. Enough players have come and gone from these franchises that have won cups. Phil Kessel, Alex Steen, Mark Stone, Luke Schenn, just to name a few.

People like to say the OEL trades was one of Bennings worst moves but this one has to come close. McCann AND A SECOND for Erik gudbranson, I hated the trade at the time and it’s only getting worse as McCann improves

    Dubas picked Kerfoot over him…yeesh.
