If this is postering and they are looking to deal him, that’s fine. If lindy goes into camp without a contract, the off-season is a massive L, especially if none of our other ufas are moved.

Fine. Guy has every right, and the team isn’t rushing a bad deal. Basically no one else in the nhl has been signing extensions ahead of the cap boost. Plus if he leaves we had a steal of a centre for less than $5M. The idea we have to rush a trade for another Morgan Klimchuk because we are worried he might Gaudreau us is an insecurity we have to get over. We’ve seen the trade market. If he leaves the best thing we’re getting is cap space anyway.

Maybe Lindholm is waiting to see tangible changes behind the bench before committing? Otherwise I’d be a bit put off if we can’t come to a decision

“I was hoping Johnny was going to come back. I thought Johnny was going to come back. But I don’t think I would let that happen again.” -Craig Conroy,
Proceeds to repeat step one of that process.

Good. Double retain him at the deadline to get his cap hit below 500K. Do the same with Hanifin and you’re basically selling a team a Stanley Cup if they pony up for both.

I know its early but this off-season is quickly turning into a massive flop

Eh, this and Hanifin stuff does make it seem a lot like posturing. The market simply isn’t there right now what with the flat cap and other big names like Nylander, Karlsson, Hellebuyck, Hart, Gibson, etc rumoured to be available.
So at the moment, no deal is better than a bad deal. They have time – maybe at training camp or over the course of the season they’re some injuries and teams become more willing to meet Conroy’s price. Or more likely, some of these deals will end up waiting until the trade deadline, which should help the returns.
