THE YEAR OF PIERRE BABY
Forget the "Summer of Pierre" or the "Winter of Pierre". This is the "YEAR of Pierre"! In the last 9 months, this team has brought in DeBrincat, Giroux, and Chychrun, while giving up ZERO roster players and ZERO prospects.
The only concern I have is fitting in an extension for DeBrincat this summer given how tight the cap is for the Sens next season, and then again the following year when Sanderson needs his contract. In the meantime, all aboard the HYPE TRAIN! Next Stop: PLAYOFFS ??
Another great ep. Kinda surprised Krieder isn't referenced when Yorkie suggests the rangers don't have a guy who can forecheck or go to the net though! Scored 40 just a year ago!
SOLID top 6 F: Tkachuk, Stützle, Giroux, Norris, DeBrincat, Batherson
SOLID top 4 D: Chabot, Sanderson, Chychrun, Zub
Good F depth: Pinto, Jospeh, Kastelic, Gauthier, (Formenton?)
Good F prospects: Greig, Boucher, Sokolov, Ostapchuk, Jarventie
Good D prospects: Brännström, JBD, Thomson, Kleven (guys like Hamara, Donovan, Nordberg are impressing)
Decent to good G prospects: Søgaard, Meriläinen, Mandolese
Mediocre goaltending: Talbot and Forsberg
Meh to mediocre D depth: Hamonic, Holden, Larsson, Heatherington
So… if our D prospects continue developing well, and we can improve our goaltending (or Søgaard can take a huge step), this team can potentially be scary as early as next season.
The Ottawa Senators have a history of proving doubters wrong in times just this!! Can they do it again? Don't be surprised…
I think there might be some magic mojo, chemistry, vibration, frequency going on with this group, and in that room. Time will tell, but 7th best since Dec 1st……
