I think it could be better for him. Don’t wanna play a young goalie too much. We’ve done it before and it didn’t go too well.

I’m not surprised, and it’s a way more difficult question than people think. Does Schmid *really* develop playing once a week as a backup? He is 22.

Not surprising considering Daws will be out for an extended period. Fitz isn’t done IMO

Hmm interesting. So we need a goalie. Question is whether that’s going to be a backup goalie or a new starter

Fine with adding a goalie, as long as its short term. Throwing 8×8 at hellebuyck is dumb.

Idk, would it really hinder him to play 30 or so games up here? I think he’s already done enough at this level to show he belongs.

Not a fan of this if true.

This gotta mean that we’re adding a goalie then. Is there any cap to conceivably fit Hellebuyck on the team with Bernier and Blackwood coming off?

  8. We’re riding with Vitek. Hope he can get his mind right in big games

The reason this doesn’t make sense to me is that I wasn’t expecting that he’d only be playing 20 games or something in the NHL. I assumed we would see something like a 46/36 split in Vitek’s favor, or maybe even the other way depending on how he plays. I don’t think anyone would want a rookie playing much more than that, so this tells me that they don’t think he’s ready to be a 1B in the NHL. It’ll be interesting to see what they do because there aren’t many good short term options left, unless they decide to get Hellebyuck for just the 1 year, but I feel like the price would be too high to be worth it.

I somehow trust more Akira than VV. I def saw them maybe coming in as a 1A/1B combo, but I can see how some people might think thats its not a winning tandem

This is the right call. Yes, he saved our playoff but he needs more time to marinate. Let him be the Utica starter, the big dog, and dominate there.

    No need to rush him.

    Also, bring me Saros

  12. With McLeod in jail we’re going to have the cap space for Hellebuyck with 1 year of retention. Hopefully he doesn’t cost too too much though
