  1. Mailbag question please: do you think that if Hughes can’t trade Hoffman he’ll just put him on waivers. He’s not the type of player you want on a team that puts so much emphasis on culture and hard work? Plus he’s taking the place of a young player

  2. Mailbag Question: If Juraj Slafkovsky comes out this season and has a 35-45 point season, Are we still worried about him? Or is that good progression for a 19 year old getting use to the NHL? Also if Slafkovsky hits his “High Ceiling” (which I believe he will) are we worried that Montreal gets an expensive free agent and isn’t able to extend Slafkovsky? Sorry I guess 3 questions lol. THANKS GUYS!!

  3. I really don’t think this Newhook contract will be bad for Montreal at ALL!! If Newhook hits his potential 60-70 points and he’s making 2.9 million THAT IS A MASSIVE STEAL! And if he only becomes a 40-45 point player it is still a good contract because Kotkaniemi is a 40-43 point player and Makes more then 4 million 😂😂… either way the Newhook deal is great but could be AMAZING!

  4. You guys talk about Gurianov and his 900k contract with Nashville BUT dont mention that for Montreal to qualify him, they would have to offer 2.9 million!! Forget roster space Scott was talking about, the money wasnt worth the player based on what we saw from him.

  5. if they give him top six ice time, he'll easily get 50 pts and this will be an insane value deal. Hughes' agency used to rep Newhook, so MTL has his trust. AN mentioned he wasn't getting enough opportunity in COL, which as an Avs fan I can say is absolutely spot on. PP2, 11th in F total ice time. 5v5 most common linemates were LOC & Cogs, not exactly top six talent.

  6. Newhook played 12 games in the playoff run with 4 assists, a fill in, 7 games last playoff, 1 assist. He played up and down the lineup last season, 30 pts on a performance team, talent around him to help him. Faceoffs, 38%. Best season 33 pts.

Rafael Harvey-Pinard signed 1.1 million after a 48 pt pace season as a rookie on a struggling team, scores/fits anywhere they put him (scoring on the 4th line too), finishes checks, blocks shots, competes….been working on power skating this offseason. My projection is RHP outperforms Newhook.

Dach was an underperformer pulled off pulled off an underperforming, poorly managed and coached Chicago team. A big body. Different story with Colorado and LA (Andersson), sorry for being realistic. Hughes is slipping.
    Good call Laura.
