@Carolina Hurricanes

Athletic NHL Staff: 45% pick Canes as Cup Champions, 23% pick Canes as Runner-up.

Avalanche next best at 16%

Devils at 6.5% (“Their goaltending or playing style may be what’s holding them back as a pick for the Cup.”)

The Hurricanes have been hanging around as a contender for a while now, and that’s been the recipe for Cup champs lately. Washington, Tampa Bay, Colorado and Vegas all spent years on the precipice before everything finally went their way and they won it all. Carolina ([https://theathletic.com/nhl/team/hurricanes/](https://theathletic.com/nhl/team/hurricanes/)) is fresh off an Eastern Conference final appearance despite suffering several key injuries. If things fall their way and the goaltending holds up in the postseason, the Hurricanes have a great chance. It is interesting that the Hurricanes were the overwhelming favorite in this poll but have only the sixth-best odds according to the sportsbooks, at 12-to-1.

    This is so exciting and terrifying having these kind of expectations

    We have done everything that we needed this off season.
    We got more scoring with bunting and Orlov while getting tougher as well.

    Also our top guys have been posting they are working out and improving this summer.

    Still room for more deals to come but we should be the favorites.

    Obviously very biased, but I can see why folks think that.

    Already good team with a strong identity and coach. Conference Finals despite bad injury luck and lack of talent injection at the TDL. Top UFA talent injected in the off-season with more irons in the fire.

    It’s a pretty good recipe for success.

    Hunter has become the hunted. Hope the boys are ready.

    Even as is, we are the favorite. If the various irons in the fire don’t pan out, we are loaded with assets for a trade deadline acquisition. Regardless, it’s an exciting time to be a canes fan.

    I’m just hoping for a conference finals win. I’ve watched them go 0-12 In the previous 3 conference finals

    Oh no, expectations, our biggest weakness

    Why would the Avs have so much faith after they got eliminated round 1 and now have to pay their superstar superstar prices? Genuine question, I don’t keep up.
