Leafs fans are so dumb I swear. They want to dance around the fact that the players holding their team down are the star Canadians. Marner has had 10 goals in 50 career playoff games. For what he’s being paid, that’s ridiculous. Canadian media just won’t admit he’s the weak link
He should sign for in and around what Caufield and Debrincat signed for ! He not a 9 to 10 million calibre player or else he would on the top line . The only contract that he signed with the Leafs that wasn’t a problem was his entry level deal. If wants to stay a Leaf then sign ,if not , trade him for defensive help

Nylander is great. He will fetch a young top 6 roster player, top prospect, and a 2nd or 3rd rounder. It just depends on who is making the deal. That is the deal Winnipeg should have made with PLD. What makes PLD attractive is he is young and available and a 1B center. Those are rarely on the market. A player like nylander is available every free agency period. If Toronto wants a big haul then any team that complies will do a sign and trade.
The PLD haul was mostly salary driven and fluff. Vilardi is a second line winger who will go to arbitration. Iafallo is pretty good but not for 4M for 2 more seasons and then hitting the open market. both of them are highly injury prone and neither of them are fast. iafallo also needed to be moved for cap purposes. Kupari is a young and raw Trevor Lewis but isn’t quite as good defensively. So far he doesn’t show top 6 potential but he’s still young. The 2nd round pick holds the second most valuable piece in the deal. It’s basically PLD for vilardi and a 2nd. I’d rather have PLD on a NTC at 8.5Mx8 then vilardi eventually on a NTC at 6Mx8.
