A pic I took of Mario getting the first star of the game in his last appearance in Ottawa, Oct. 30, 2002. He had 24 minutes of ice, 1 goal and 2 assists. I can still remember that he looked tired as he took his curtain call.

Great picture man, Mario was special that season even at 37 after all the injuries he managed to put up 90 points in 70 games on a terrible Pens team during the dead puck era

I know he dealt with terrible back pain for a good chunk of his career

Absolutely amazing picture of who I consider the greatest hockey player ever, not just for his career as a player, but for doing everything in his power to keep the Penguins in Pittsburgh. In my eyes he’s the greatest athlete of any sport.
