NHL GOALIE COACH: KNIGHT OR LEVI IN THE FLORIDA PANTHERS NET?
We open with a quick chat on which goalie has the inside edge to the Florida Panther’s crease. Both goalies played great in the World Juniors but what now? How will the management group with the Panthers look at the current goaltending situation with Bobrovsky knowing there is some serious talent in the pipeline and who will have the edge? Spencer Knight or the diminutive Devon Levi?
We also see a substantial segment of crease movement drills you can do on your Outdoor Rink (ODR) and a lengthy segment on How Head Coaches should manage their goalies, their practices and how to communicate properly with your goalies.
Finally, there is some direct advice on how to manage teammates that turn in to head hunters in practice.

thanks, coach!

Hello Levi is better
Awesome! Absolute GOLD on that conversation with the two of you starting at 9:15. Let's get this content on the Hockey Canada coaching app!! If this clip was played at a coaching clinic then regular coaches would have some solid knowledge to go help their goalies!! @hockeycanada
Pre-vid opinion. I assume you gonna say knight. I have to agree. The canadien team was hands down better and easily could have won if it wasn't for the 3rd period Knight. I would say that team usa probably caught Levi amd the Canadiens a little off guard but it happens. If the roles were reversed(Knight for Canada, Levi for usa, usa more than likely would have lossed. In the end to stellar goalies and great talents.
How Old is THIS guy
how tall is the kid at 1:49 ?
I liked Levi's consistency. Both goalies were great. No beer league, no public skating, not cold enough to freeze a backyard rink. Thanks for these videos.
😎👍🇺🇸🇨🇦🏒🥅💣🚨 KEETS!!!
Happy 2021 everyone!
Another great video. I like this format with drills, discussions with another coach and then a pro's point of view on various situations. Makes you think!! Thanks Steve.
Great video Steve, love the crease movement drills and you are 100% correct about practices, at least give the goalie time to set their feet and get square on each shot if possible and there are way too many shots from the block zone (between the dots and lower), only time in games this happens there is so much back pressure and stick on puck there is no chance to get a good shot off or at least a high shot where most kids love to shoot, hence why my goalies get hit in the head 10 times a practice.
Love all the moves!! Now I’ll have to memorize the names and apply them as soon as we have ice time! Also do you have or can make a video on the difference between curved and straight t-pushes (there’s hardly any vids on that here)
Incredible goaltending by both. Super fun to watch.
Gotta say I do like his Vaughn gear.
I think Levi is the better goalie now. That may not be the same in a year or two.
One topic I don’t know if you have ever talked about is how parents and coaches should treat multi sport athletes.
Growing up some kids get into high level hockey and soccer/football/lacrosse/baseball etc.
“Get up! Get up! Get up!”, is all I used to hear as a kid.
Man, wish I had better coaches growing up here in Southern Indiana haha. You’d be lucky to have a coach that even played hockey, especially the younger years in house league. So many dads out there that were doing their best to stay on their feet haha. I am still so apprehensive to play the puck behind the net because there was NEVER any focus on that growing up. And like you said, when I would play the puck it was immediate confusion because we never drilled it so the defensemen and I were not on the same page. I’m alright cutting off an icing on a penalty kill and passing up ice, but the more important subtle puck handling behind the net gets my butt puckered up quicker than I don’t know what.
Great video…. don’t agree with the emphasis on extending the leg, and where the place the goalie power pushes, but the rest is great
Just got a full set of red, white, blue Vaughn v9 along with v9 pants and a v9 chesty
One thing that sucks about getting into things later in life, are the little parts you don't get to experience.. As an adult rookie goalie I'm never going to get to experience things like what hockey "team" practice is like.. I would assume 99% of beer league teams never or very rarely practice. Hell the one and only camp I've been to (obviously with the 🐐) was the first and only time I've done any type of goalie power skating. Maybe I'm sick in the head but I love fundamental work 🤣🤣🤣..
A solid foundation is the key to any structure. The same goes for sports, you'll never reach your potential without putting as much effort into the boring fundamentals, as you would working those pretty windmills.
It was nice to watch such a good movie
LEVI!!!
