  1. The door swings both ways. He may not owe them an answer right away but they're running an NHL team here. If they have the chance to fill the number 1 center role they can't just wait around and keep that spot open for a guy who might retire.

  2. The organization ABSOLUTELY has insight on what Bergy is doing. Same scenario as last season when noone knew…then it came out both he and Krejci had told management their plans in early July if not sooner.

  3. I know last year. Took Bergy until early August to re-sign with the B’s. The man is a Bruins Legend, up there with Orr. If he waits until October. We will be grateful to have him back. If he retires. May his life be blessed and his replacement step up to bat.

He owes the Bruins and the Fans one thing. To be at peace with himself. He shouldn’t come back out of guilt, I say he retires because we do need to move on from Krejci and Bergeron. Not because they are ‘garbage’ players, they have kept us in games we didn’t deserve to win. We need to move on, because they need to be healthy in retirement and not be like Pronger, or Savard. That concussion issue is a nasty bloke.

Though it hurts me, to acknowledge Bergeron and Krejci likely won’t be around next season. We still have the likes of Marchand, Pastrnâk, McAvoy and Carlo. So. There is still a reason to believe

  4. As much as I’ve rooted against the Bruins for years, it would be amazing if they run it back one more time WITH Lucic and win a cup, unlikely but not impossible eh.

  5. Bergy also just had a child so he can take all the time he needs. I heard that Krejci is going to retire.

  6. I think Patrice Bergeron being from Quebec, probably grew up a Montreal Canadians fan, and has been playing the long game to screw over the Bruins. I think he knew from the moment he was drafted in 2003, that he was going to play in Boston, win a cup, and then, after 20 years, he was going to screw them over. Definitely long game. I want to see him at a press conference wearing a Bruins jersey, tear it off and be wearing a Montreal Canadians underneath, then announce he's going to play another 20 years…for the Habs! Well played Patrice.

  7. Bergeron is a legend. He used to play for Bathurst Titan in the QMJHL along with Noah Dobson and Jeffrey Viel. I do hope he takes his time. His mind might say I don't want to retire, but maybe he'll be forced to because of his body.

  8. I have no idea where you heard any Bruins fan say that Bergeron needs to let everyone know what he's doing right now. Every real Bruins fan I've heard has no problems with him taking as long as he needs to make a decision. You definitely didn't hear it from the Bruins owner, president or GM. They all have said he can take as much time as he needs. Same as last year the Bruins are working the off-season to do the best for the team next year with or without Bergeron.
Some fans will definitely criticize management and the owner but no real Bruins fan would hate on Bergeron. Not after all he's done for the Bruins, the fans and all of New England on and off the ice.

  9. Nobody is owed nothing in this scenario, feel for Bergeron and all that he's been through but you've said it yourself; he's dealing with serious injury and if the Bruins plan on building a team around him, hats off. However, time is of the essence and we must move forward. If your body can't do it, listen buddy – thanks for the Cups, thanks for the game and being an upstanding citizen, but let's move on and celebrate you when we retire your number. Stop the pomp and circumstance of all this entitlement. It's bullshit.

  10. B’s management put themselves in this position. Even if it’s a late summer deadline, they need to put a deadline on when they need a decision on these two. I’m not saying that behind the scenes they haven’t but in public they’ve said that they will give the players the time that they need. I have no qualms with giving people time to make tough decisions but there needs to be an agreed upon timeframe for making that decision. Even during that time the Bs should be exploring their options as backup plans, so hearing these rumors to me is nothing more than just exploration.

  11. If anyone has earned retirement it is Bergeron. If he comes back I'll be happy, If he retires then happy retirement and thanks for everything. He is the 2nd greatest Bruin of all time closely behind Orr.

  12. For preface I cheer for teams in this order: Oilers Bruins Caps Panthers. Bruins got me into hockey with 2011 run (from Boston). Watched him the whole time I’ve been a hockey fan been to like 15+ bruins games over that time and seem bergy countless times. To any bruins fan giving a hard time shame on you he gave us everything and he’s earned it. Every era come to an end eventually look at our run with Brady. Let the man decide what’s best for him. His dad also is not doing to well with a battle with cancer

  13. It’s not so much the fans it’s the media in Boston they’re a bunch of old boomers that complain about everything under the sun

  14. It's a game where everything can get cooked as you get older, Bergeron's the kind of guy to play if he can. But age comes for us all, and injuries can take what's left from the tank.

  15. The fans are just dumb. The team does have an answer. It's a fact. Bergeron said he'd let them know by the start of free agency. Which is the same thing he did last year. And the team did the same thing last year. They didn't make it public for a long time. The team has confirmed that he did in fact let them know last year before free agency began so there's no reason to think he's not being truthful this year. He's factually not screwing them at all. They are just kind of flipping off the fans.
This isn't the first time the fans thought they knew something and said stupid thing about this guy. When he played at the end of last season despite being injured the fans gave him a hard time. But it came out he played in that last game versus Montreal because his dad is struggling with a battle against cancer. And that it was a game where the entire family could be present. He played to make sure that if it was his last game his dad would get to see it. And he got roasted for it until the came out. It's the same here. This guy has like an impeccable legacy. You can't poke holes in it you just end up looking like a douche bag. People should stop trying.

  16. Speaking as an older man who still competes athletically, it’s hard to let go if you still have mostly good days and a few bad days when it comes to your body dealing with injuries. Imaging a player at that level, who can still perform, needing time to make the biggest decision of his career, whether to hang ‘em up, shouldn’t be difficult. If anything, his stellar career has earned him the right to take as much time , and on his schedule, as he thinks he needs.

  17. I'm more hoping that he's not the one getting screwed over if he's waiting to hear if he'll be getting something in the way of a one year deal (one last hurrah year). I honestly hope it's more of a "I need to see if I have it in me" situation for one more year 🙏🏻

  18. Is it possible that Bergeron already made his mind and told the team, and through the conversations the team asked if it's possible to keep it under wraps for the time being so that they would not be in a weakened position to seek out another center, via trade or UFA?

  19. Bergeron is one of the best captain the NHL has ever seen. He is also an all-time icon wearing the Bruins jersey. Boston fans should not say anything negative about him.

  20. Dude you need to chill! No Bruins fan that that is a fan of Bergy and the time are reacting like you. Wish he’d return but understand if he doesn’t.

  21. If he was gonna retire, he’d of announced it already. He’s coming back to the rodeo

  22. Retirement is a tough decision, he's given the franchise so much, he deserves to take as much time as he needs

  23. bruins fans…nuff said. Only good thing about them is watching them beat the snot out of each other in the stands!!

  24. He's gonna do the same deal again $1m cap hit with $4m in bonuses. As a Leaf fan, I am not sure why BOS fans would even be worried.

  25. He will be coming back for one last year if his body lets him! The back is the problem but staying for the 100th season has to be on his mind!
If not his last year was played with the greatest team of all time

  26. I'm managing a group of close to 3000 French Canadian Bruins fans on Facebook. And I can assure you there is only respect for Bergeron and his decision process, no matter how long it takes. It also needs to be added that the Bergeron family welcomed a fourth child something like a week ago. The Bruins organization knows that, the fans know that. We all hope he'll come back, but no real Bruins fan will be mad at him if he doesn't or if he takes time to make his decision.

  27. No real bruins fan is mad about not knowing he can take all the time he needs.. we have a lot of a doom and gloom crowd that watches 4 game a year and complains about literally everything lol. His banner raising will be planned the second he retires

  28. Don Sweeney has screwed the Bruins way more than Bergeron ever has so these drunk “fans” can get this disgusting narrative out of here and start blaming the ones that deserve it (the front office)

  29. Anyone complaining about him isn't a Bruins fan, just a fan of Bruins' winning. These are probably the same people that were upset at Rask for not playing during a pandemic.

  30. The team knows whats going on with Bergy. We dont. No problem. We will find out soon enough.
