“My family was counting on me to be better than threatening to hire mobsters to kill a police officer for having the audacity to ask if I was drunk after I drove through somebody’s lawn” is probably accurate TBF

He may have ended his own bloodlines’ appearance in the NHL

I love how going to a rehab resort has become the default “punishment” for this shit.
Edit: act of contrition would have been a better word than punishment.

What’s with the wacky Illuminati symbol at the top?

I mean, never too late to get help. If he’s sincere, I hope he can get better through the program.
Medschoolmonkee
If he’s genuine, I hope the program can truly help him. Just a sad story, as much as we all clown on him.

idc if he was drunk, or “just angry”, dude said racial slurs and threatened to have people killed. he needs the help he’s about to get, and also the consequences he’s dealing with now.

I’ll kill you but I’m sorry fuck this twat

I heard the NHL was planning the harshest punishment the NHLPA and labor law will allow: playing 82 more games for the Coyotes *snare hit* (entire crowd starts booing me)
madworld2713
This dude needs serious help, threatened to kill an officer and his family. Being drunk doesn’t cause that.

Alcohol doesn’t change your opinion. Alcohol let’s you say what you want with less inhibition. I think he made what he thinks of police (and black people for that matter) clear.
Hopefully, he has learned through the immense backlash he’s received, that what he did was wrong and that this apology is coming from a place of genuine remorse. Hard to say for sure, but time will tell.
If he wanted to, he could have fucked off to Russia and finished his career there. The fact that he apologized and still wants to stay is hopefully representative of the fact that he wants to be the kind of person the league will accept (not a terribly high bar, I know) and not just the will to grab some more cash out of the most profitable hockey league.
Sometimes people snap and do things they regret. Sometimes people show their true colors.

“Chatbot, write an apology letter from the perspective of Galchenyuk”.
Actions speak louder. Sure, there is a chance for redemption, but that will come with time and actions

Well if someone owns their mistakes and makes a genuine effort to be better then we shouldn’t try to wreck the attempt (we do that and nobody will ever try to make amends for a screw up)
Guess we’ll see if he proves himself down the road
SaltChildhood7
No. Not too late. Hopefully this is sincere and he gets the help he really needs whether he actually realizes it or not

I love this community but sometimes you guys love to cast stones when a human makes a mistake. 100% not supporting anything he said or did obviously, but issuing an apology and then taking action (checking into assistance program) to back those words up is a step in the right direction.
I get it, he’s a rich privileged athlete. He has every resource available to him to not drink and drive, threaten people, and use racial slurs. But some of you guys want him stripped, tarred and feathered and forced to walk through town square while we throw tomatoes at him.

“I am deeply ashamed of my recent behavior and I am beyond sorry to everyone I offended and hurt. It was uncalled for, it was horrific and it has ruined this great new opportunity I was given by the coyotes. I am beyond embarrassed and disappointed with myself as I like to consider myself a man of faith as there’s a drive into deep left field by Castellanos, it will be a home run, and that will make it a four nothing ballgame.”
