Gabe Perrault is Scott Wheeler’s #15 drafted prospect in the NHL (The Athletic)

Wheeler waxes rhapsodic about his vision and playmaking, noting that despite criticisms, he’s getting bigger and bigger AND set the USNTDP points record (over Matthews, Kane, and Hughes) by a wide margin.

He also notes that he thinks Perrault has above-average speed, and thinks concerns over his skating are a bit overblown.

We got a steal this year. Feels good to be on this end of the post-draft spectrum instead of the Krav/Lias/Chytil “it was a reach” commentary.

Given the Ranger’s history for developing forwards they drafted in the first round, I just hope he makes it to the NHL. Then we will worry about his role as a top 6 forward..

I can foresee a future where someone on this board says ….he wasn’t even that highly rated, I mean no one expected anything from him!

    Was Othmann on the list?

I’m excited to keep an eye on Gabes development in college hockey.
