THEMOVE: 2023 Tour de France Stage 15

Heading into the Tour’s final rest day, Lance, JB, and George are again joined by Spencer Martin, co-host of OŪTCOMES, WEDŪ’s cycling betting podcast, and author of the Beyond the Peloton newsletter, to break down the Tour’s fifteenth stage, which saw the veteran Wout Poels get an impressive win from the breakaway to give his Bahrain-Victorious team their second stage win of the race, before getting into the still lock-stepped GC battle between Tadej Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard further down the mountain.

The crew also discuss Wout van Aert’s strange tactics in the breakaway, how Jumbo’s mid-race pileup could affect the third-week GC dynamics, the fight for the podium, and who between Pogačar or Vingegaard has the upper hand going into Tuesday’s decisive time trial.

  1. I think Vingegaard gets in front and looks back because Pog is so explosive he can gap 4 lengths instantly. Ving limits the gap a tad in the front. They seem even except for the explosive jump.

  2. Lance: spent more time in France than all of us combined …

Also Lance every time Alán speaks French: 😝😂😂

  3. As someone who was not lucid when Lance was racing can someone explain Lances reaction to George’s “Pantani could” comment?

  4. My view on the Jonas leading Pogacar is the following: Pog was partly bluffing as he let the Yates wheel go. Jonas thought about going, but decided to stay behind Pog. However when Rodrigues came over Pogacar Jonas probably thought, well let's see, maybe there is a crack. Once he was there second in line, he realised Pog is not cracking, but it was too late now and he had to turn his head all the time. It was a split second decision that was probably not the right one.

  5. I am so proud of Lance. He is visibly battling the narcissism. What a struggle. Glad to see he is doing his best to make sure he does not create new victims.

  6. Hi, thanks for the entertaining content and TdF coverage. Just to explain: "Pannenkoek" = singular, whereas "Pannenkoeken" = plural in Dutch.

  7. Lance " George has no stress" George looking straight into his soul …… I been working for you for 30 years

  8. JB: Please move my question to top, if you don’t mind. I’m imagining a lot of great antics and craziness in the peloton. What I want to know is, who are the funny guys and who are the real assholes in the peloton. I know there’s probably some funny assholes too; there’s always overlap there. But I want to who those guys are, today and in Lance & George’s time too.

  9. This is where Wout has an advantage as a Cross expert! Making a transition from road to TT bike will be smooth! My vote's on a win from him for the TT

  10. Damn , watching the TT. looks like Jonas has destroyed him with 1.5 to go. Tour is over, been good though and well deserved. Difficult tomorrow , just do not see Jonas failing

  11. Love this podcast. Maybe now, after the TT, even Lance can see that Jonas looks to be the strongest in this year's Tour 😅
