Per Pierre LeBrun, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes are apparently talking about a potential trade involving the likes of Brett Pesce, Kasperi Kapanen, and Connor Brown. These are some really interesting NHL trade rumours, considering the value of the packages involved and how they related to William Nylander a few months ago.

IMO, I can see both Brown and Kapanen doing very well in Carolina even increasing their offensive numbers. Don't forget Brown scored 20 in his rookie year but I think became a casualty of the forward depth on Toronto. Good chance he can consistently put up those numbers every year. Same can be said about Kapanen, had good numbers this year but was bounced around the lineup once Nylander came back. Put him next to Aho and I can see him having a breakout year. Potentially he can be locked down for a reasonable contract which can look pretty good after the first year. Not to mention both of them are pretty good penalty killers as well.
IMO the value of Brown/Kapanen vs Pesce is probably closer than you think.
Brown got zero PP time this year. He scored 20 goals playing on the PP and 4t line the year before. I hope the Leafs don't trade him if everyone values someone like that so low. I think you are overvaluing Pesce. He is a good middle of the road defenseman and 2 proven 20 goal scorers for that type of player is a bit too much imo. They both would have been in the top 4 goal scorers on the Vancouver Canucks this year. Sorry but that is WAY too much for a #4 defenseman.

Kapanen has always been such an underrated player and he is being underrated again. The Leafs are better with him than without him. That's my two bits anyway.
