OK Guys, it’s time to take a look at Habs forward Kirby Dach.. who was acquired by the Canadiens during last year’s draft from the Chicago Blackhawks. Dach has been a beast since joining Montreal, and I feel like he has a lot of untapped potential.

Dach is not a center, go look at his faceoff stats? A 38 percent, wow so every time he is on the ice you don't start the play with the puck. Go look at his WHL stats he was way under 50 percent down there so it has nothing to do with his age or playing against men, he has never been good at faceoffs. He gave the puck away more than he recovered it last year. Last year Marty had to shelter him with only 33 percent defensive zone starts. He played a grade total of 19 minutes short-handed all season. That's a top-10 defensive center? Dach is a top 6 winger and should never be allowed to play in the middle.
He'd make a killer combo at center with Newhook on the wing.
Leafs/jets fan here weighing in. Honestly i think yall are underestimating dach. I think he's potentially O'Reilly 2.0. Won't blow you away with pure talant, but combines it with working his ass off and being a warrior. Faceoffs are something most centers don't nail down till at least 26ish. Don't sweat it.
I think he's going to be better than Suzuki imo. Also nice pick up with Reinbacher. It was the right pick. He's gunna be a defensive beast. In 3-4 years it's gunna be scary crossing your blueline. Reinbacher, Guhle and Xhekaj are all big dudes that can throw nasty hits.
I definitely want to see him centre his own line that way we have 2 good scoring lines
Dach and Newhook will both prove 2 b excellent additions to our rebuild… great moves by the management group
His ceiling is 25 goals-70 points.

I think negatively of him.Most of his points last year were with Suzuki but again dont want to discredits Dach.Hes been good for us.
I wouldve loved see Romanov with Guhle or Xhekaj,Mailloux. Maybe not play with them but be in the team with them.Grow with them.
I really dont know about Harris,Barron ..i dont like them..I know i overestimate Romanov..maybe hes still a young defenseman.
Thanks to this video,i now know he had good defensive skill at center position wich is a big +,i would like to know how many games he played center tough(not that it change much but a little). I dont think Dach will ever be #1 center .
So mostly its all about the trades..for Dach and Newhook i think its still overpaid but we didnt get Sh***y players at least.
For now i really dont like how Hughes is overpaying for those 2 trades but he made good contracts.
And for sure , i have no place being a NHL GM.So ill keep it to my opinion
Seems like i dont like lots of things about the habs but the Habs are bad… last 2 years… it wasnt even fun to watch ..so much giveaway , bad defense ,bad offence , bad goaltending(montembeault was good last year)

He is bigger and faster than Suzuki and he will be the number 1 center in the future.

He absolutely has the potential to be a number one center. His ceiling could be 80-90 points IMO. Not saying he will but that’s the ceiling I see.
Dach is a beauty. His story about Yzerman on Spitting Chiclets is a classic! So glad Hughes went out and got a guy like this. They better sign him long term
I love suzuki and I think he should be the captain. But I don't believe he is a first line center. Can he do it? Yes. But he would be far more effective on the 2nd line.
I think Kent's plan is to see who takes the second line C spot, between dach and newhook

I legit believe he can be similar to produce like Ryan Getzlaf he just needs to learn how to win a face-off to be a legit #1 center

I liked the move to get Dach off the get go. They had upcoming prospects on defense with Guhle and Xhekaj, Harris already had his foot in the door. Romanov was being squeezed out. First thing in that draft they acquired needed size up front with Slaf and Dach At 22 his game is still growing for a few years yet…center or winger it doesn't matter, where ever he's most effective. Always possible he's 1st center in a couple years.
I am really torn between seeing Dach on the wing or at center. I think this guy can flourish at either position. What a trade by Hughes.
Watch out when this Chad peaks, he's gonna be a point per game center! It's hilarious that the Blackhawks traded a purely gifted 3rd overall juggernaut for a handful of peanuts
Dach just needs to fix his faceoff percentage. It's never been over 40%

I love how Hughes is going and getting former first round players for next to nothing and giving the magic of Martin’s St. Louis is just a complete deal I think this is the way a Stanley cup will be won! Our defence is stacked solid and now picking up guys that other people have a band in at such a young age it is quite amazing what uses doing

Suzuki is our number 1 center and probably will be for some time to come but him and dach are both on track to be a couple of monsters in their own rights

I hope he stays healthy, too. If he can be a 1C in the next year or two, it bodes well for the Habs! People were down on him because of his poor numbers and the price paid to bring him in. I wonder if we’ll see a similar situation with Newhook.
dach is great but suzy is and will be better
The only problem is he was productive as a winger! We will see but i am not at all convinced of this guy.
Just needs to work on improving his face offs which I’m sure he has been.

The disease causes the crumbling of cartilage and bone in both of his knees."
I feel that Kirby will not be purely a center in the future but a guy who CAN play center
I hope that him and newhook can have some chemistry in the future. If slafs becomes that perfect fit with Nick and cole in a couple years then 2/3 of our second line is Kirby and newhook. That sounds pretty damn good to me. Thanks for all the hard work you put in junkie you're a beauty bud.
Edit* And for the record! I really hope that RHB can become that 20-30 goal scorer that can play along side newhook and dach in the coming years.
The fact that people are having the conversation about dach challenging for the 1c spot tells us how good he is .I don't think we will have an elite 1c but 2 very high end 1/2 c
