  1. At least Helmer got a new Cup with the well hated Av's and a huge goal for them in winning that cup. I always liked him, he was a hard worker that seemed to me had a ton of pontential that he really reached. He had a terribe back injury from lifting weights that sidelined him for what seemed years. In any case, I won't be surprised if he shows up around LCA in the not too distant future. He was a good Red Wing.

  2. With the money they are paying him, JT will absolutely be the 2C, why pay him all that money to not be? Wings had one of the weakest 2nd lines in the league last year, JT is 2nd line on this team all day and probably Sprong as well. See both of them getting more playing time with the Wings and see them both on the 2nd line

  3. Lmao its funny how yall think yeah…det got better we wild card now…all other teams made moves too….detroit may be out the bottom 10 next year but no wild card

  4. AVs are nothing but a Disneyland franchise. It’s disgusting you did a crossover McCarty would be disappointed

  5. I loved DHelm… too much money but went out there every night and gave it his all handed me a puck at a game as a kid. A true hockey legend

  6. Stevie builds from the net out. The defensive game, from all 20 guys, is the priority. It’s a concept Bowman brought to Detroit. Bowman and Dave Lewis keyed in on team defense and goals against. Other teams were doing it. Jersey had a D system called the neutral zone trap that carried them to a cup. Colorado mirrored that style after the 95 year. Bowman and Lewis created the Left Wing Lock to neutralize the trap. It took the league a couple years to adjust. Now the league plays varying styles of the 3-1-1, 3-2-1, etc. I’ve not seen any real leaps in D systems since those glory days. It comes down to getting the roster to buy into a system and then play well within it. Bottom line is if you can manage your goals against and have good special teams you have a shot every night. Obviously you need goal scorers but one quick look at Toronto tells you how that works out in the playoffs and conversely a quick review of Vegas last year tells you what being able to roll 4 lines of good team defense and a roster that has bought into the system with good forechecking can do for you. Detroit has real depth on this roster. Can they gel within Lalonde’s system? Can they stay healthy? Can a few guys step up like Rayzor, Bergs, and Raz? We’ve a lot of potential 20+ goal scorers in addition to those 3. Sprong, Compher, Perron, Copp are all in the 20+ conversation. Kostin could break out. If this team can gel they’re going to be good.

  7. The Avs are fun to watch and super skilled. Rooted for them all the way vs Tampa. The rivalry with Wings v Avs is dead. From a hockey fan standpoint, the Avs rule.
