I am baffled by this one, seriously. The Sabres just keep improving their defense, but this looks like a large risk for Chicago.

Bowman likes his upside and they have been scouting Nylander for a while. They think Joki is good but expendable as 3 other young D will be ready 2 years from now. We currently have 8 D signed. Bowman saw what happened with Strome and thinks he will hit pay dirt again here.. simple as that.

Buffalo has about 6 NHL level RHD though, someone could be on the way out, Buffalo also has been looking to fill out their depth chart at LW. Don't know what Chicago was thinking, Jokiharju and Boqvist would've been a solid pair

Buffalo fleeced Carolina for Skinner and Chicago for Jokiharju, the only trade so far that left Botterill on the losing end was ROR to St Louis, maybe the Guhle trade if he pans out.

absolute rape job by Buffalo. Makes tons of sense for Buffalo as he fits a need by further strengthening their blue line. I don't know where Nylander fits on the Black Hawks. They are pretty loaded at winger. Plus, Nylander has yet to prove he can play well at the next level or even the AHL. Jokiharju has proven he can play at the NHL level and play well. He is a sure thing as a top 4 defenseman in the future for Buffalo. I'll tell you this, the Sabres are going to be contending for a Stanley Cup really soon. They are a VERY young team with a hell of a lot of talent. When that talent comes together, they are going to be major contenders. Love Dylan Cozens their first round draft pick in 2019 as well. Good stuff happening in Buffalo!
Sabres are my #1 team and always will be and the hawks are my #3 team. Absolutely love this trade. Nylander hasn’t lived up to the hyped he had even when he got the chance to play with guys like Eichel and skinner. The guy thinks he’s so much better then he actually is. And he made sly comments about the organization on the way out. Buffalo got a very solid young d-man to add onto the already deeeecent blue line. Good trade 👌

So after Keith and Seabrook are gone Chicago will have Boqvist and Maatta? Jokiharju could have easily fit In that top 4 In the future and they pass on Byram. I hope Nylander works out so the Blackhawks can meet the Blues In playoffs again.
I love your videos Hockey Guy, but I respectfully disagree. Watching both players, I think Chicago comes out on top from this one. Lots of warts on both side, but the warts are bigger on Joker.

Even fans in Buffalo think Stan Bowman got snookered. As teams get younger defensively Blackhawks will be dependent on Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook until they die of old age on the ice.
