#185. Salary Cap Squeeze with Charlie Coyle

One down, two to go and only so much money to do it with. Bill Guerin locks up restricted free agent Brandon Duhaime as Kirsten Krull and Jessi Pierce figure out how and when he will sign on Filip Gustavsson and Calen Addison.

Plus, like championship trophies in Boston most years, it’s tradition to check in with Charlie Coyle each summer as he begrudgingly looks back at last year and ahead to life as a girl dad.

As always, we’re created by new voice studios brought to you by Talk North, Grain Belt, Jim Beam, Livea, and Royal Credit Union this is Season 4, episode 185.

  1. Billy is always fair with contracts
With Gus I think it's his agent
The NHL uses a 3 year model
For goalies Gus has one good year
And one terrible year whatever Billy
Has offered will be very close

  2. Addison didnt file ARB yet Billy hasn't re-signed him which leads me to believe Addison was made aware he will be traded prior to 2023/24. Who knows though. One would think $1M would get Addison done pretty quickly. I always like Coyle. Hell, I was like Granny Nino and Zuck too. I was one of the very few that NEVER liked Parise/Suter 😊

  3. Gus has a limited, although successful record. It is based on one year and his ppst season has concerns. The issue of not properly fueling himself and getting physically ill in a playoff game…tgat concerns me that he has some rookie mistake goals that pushed us out of the series. I think he is overplaying his hand

  4. Jessi, place what you are reading over your camera, so you don't look shifty when reading it.

  5. Charlie Coyle was a mediocre player for the Wild, and he has been mediocre in Boston. Last season, he was just a defensive player with 70.7% defensive zone starts. Considering he was traded for a perennial All-Star defenseman in Brent Burns plus a draft pick, it would have been difficult for him to be a fan favorite.
