The arbitration process for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ilya Samsonov has come to an end. David Morassutti gives his thoughts on the ruling and why it seemed like an inevitable conclusion and what the expectation will be for Samsonov this season. By offering Samsonov 50 % of a fair wage – the Leafs basically told him 1) they don’t appreciate & respect him for being the first Leaf goalie in 20 years to win a playoff series.

Giving Samsonov a tandem goalie a year will give Woll the time he needs to be the Leafs number 1. One more thing about Woll, you can’t send him back to the Marlies Without going thru waivers. Then guess what happens, the Leafs lose Another goalie they drafted. Karlsson won’t go to Carolina because Brent Burns is there. He hates Burns.
