Hey David.. does this actually give the leafs an opportunity to bring in Matt Dumba? I know they kicked tires.. and now their off-season cap + LTIR is $4.7mil higher? Maybe another 1 year deal around $3mil? They would have to shed more $$ to start season but they've gone into training camp well over the cap before
Matt Murray would fight a buyout because he's a greedy overpaid washed up bum who constantly milks alleged injury. Which begs the question…why did the Leafs trade for him? Well anyway, they've rectified the situation by exploiting the LTIRetirement loophole and spent that artificially increased cap ceiling on more forwards…because screw defense and goaltending. Oh and too bad for Ottawa…who gets stuck with $1.5625m in dead cap while the Leafs casually skate away from paying a penalty for the whole Murray debacle. Seems like as long as the league is going to provide this LTIR loophole for teams to exploit…it's going to continue to happen and will contribute to stupid contracts being signed…like Murray's and Carey Price's.
…a year or two to get healthy? lol Murray is all of 29 years old and has played in a grand total of 73 games the past 3 seasons combined. Ultimately the dude will collect $25m for those 73 games played + a bunch of welfare checks. Teams need to just stop signing this clown to contracts.
aho is much better than nylander. he's a great 2 way goal scoring center who also plays the pk.

The think with Murray is, he was healthy enough to play 2 months ago and now all of a sudden he's done for his career
Nylander, Brodie and another out , lindholm , pesce and Tatar in. Not overly tech savvy guy, wasn’t able to find all salary on all , but should be close. You need to make a change, shake it up.
I get why Murray isn’t going to contest LTIR,,, but if I’m TB i would ask for an investigation on the Murray case,,, PS just cause other teams get away with it doesn’t mean they get to,,, 2 wrongs don’t make a right! The thing that’s very smelly is he was fine at the end of the playoffs, and now he’s injured? Did he fall in his kitchen or in his pool?

2) Aho is a captain
3) Aho signed 8 years
As a comparison Nylander would have to take 9.5 x 8 years not 10.5

If I’m Nylander I’d never sign the Aho contract Mathews had 85 pts this year and he will get a raise , and I get the centre thing, but I say to the GM Mathews is 4 to 5 millions $ better than me a year! If Mathews and Marner take the same contracts they have now , then I take the Aho deal,,,
Alot of people are overthinking how the roster moves will work.
If timmins and jarnkrok start the season in the ahl, that's 2.1 million cleared and they would be just under. They can then field the ltir space given by murray and muzzin.
Jarnkrok makes 2.1 and is on a one way deal. only the first 1.125 is releived the rest is eaten bas dead cap until hes back up
Remember, Murray only played “47” games in 2 years for the Sens. Bergeron is an automatic HoF’er.
Murray being on LTIR this year is different compared to TB and LV. The leafs are NOT bringing back a superstar in time for the playoffs like those other teams. In fact, the leafs will not want Murray back for the playoffs. Concussions are difficult to deal with and take time to recover from. Its best for him to take this time and recover fully

If you are dealing with the leafs you have a disadvantage that they will use against you….but kharma right…that means when you deal with this team look after yourself and hold out for every dollar you can because they have no respect for people or contracts
The hypocrisy of wishing Murray the best when openly cheering for the guy to be forced into LTIR with the rest of your fan base

Nylander for Jarvis + Pesce
The next CBA has to clean up the LTIR mess.
Aho has more points in his career than Nylander (same amount of game) and hes a center.
When an NHL goalie who has had head injuries – goes on long term injury leave – I am ok with that special case. Head injuries are a special case & NHL goalies playing with head injuries is just not a good idea.
Lmao I love how this is being spun as something that is "good" for Murray (he'll have time to heal and access to a great medical staff, blah blah). Come on, we all know that this move is good for the organization, not for Murray.
Difference between the two players is one is a top line Center and the other is a winger. Centers and top Dmen usually are paid more than a winger. Put Nylander on the 3rd line and he won’t get the goals and points he has been.
