Tarasenko signs with Ottawa; Women’s Hockey Spotlight, plus should there be an NHL Summer League?



On today’s show, Rachel Donner (Locked on Flyers) and Gil Martin (Locked on Isles) discuss the latest NHL news including the Ottawa Senators signing Vladimir Tarasenko to a one year deal.   1. Very low risk signing at 1 year for Tarasenko. Good for the team, they now have 8 players who have proven they can score 20+ goals and the best top 4 D they've had since Chara left. If Korpisalo can play like he did for the kings down the stretch this team will look real good.

  2. Heres what im projecting the sens powerplay units to look like. first unit: stutzle, tkachuk, norris, batherson, and one of chabot or sanderson. Second unit: giroux, pinto, tarasenko, chychryn, and whichever of chabot/sanderson isnt on the first unit. Im thinking the sens and the oilers are going to be the top 2 powerplay teams, with the sens maybe having a slightly lower percentage than the oilers, but with more powerplay goals. Sens could also conceivably be a top 5 pk team, like they were for the bulk of last season. As long as we can get some saves, and injuries dont derail us, we should be a shoe in for the playoffs
