Mets are in full rebuild mode now and won’t contend in 2024. Anyone buying into what eppler said for 2024 are the same delusional met fans saying coming into 2023 the 2022 Mets won 101 games and we had nothing to worry about

I couldn't disagree more about the comment if Verlander was going to be traded he wouldn't have pitched today… 2 things against that… Scherzer pitched, and less than 24 hours later he was traded… And 2, what better way to showcase him than an outing against the Washington Nationals…

The Mets are DONE for years to come. They have no prospects and have proven they don't know how to spend the money they do have. They will fight for the cellar with the Nats in 2024.
Anyone who says or thinks the Mets did not get enough for Scherzer knows nothing about baseball. Period. As soon as I heard the Rangers were interested I said if Eppler does not get Acuña in return, then Eppler has to go. This is a great trade for the Mets, who just added their second baseman for the next decade, for a guy clearly on the decline
Good move they got a A – 1 top prospect . Keep Verlander don’t forget Nolan Ryan pitched great in his 40’s. Keep adding top kids . Steve knows investing in future is way to go. All they need is pitching pitching and pitching . They will get it . Tommy Pham could get them some pitching. They see something that we don’t , and they are going for it.
