At the time of recording this video and uploading it, a trade has not been confirmed. However, we had word from NHL insider Kevin Weekes that the Buffalo Sabres are prepared to trade goaltender Jonas Johansson to the Colorado Avalanche.

Again, at the time of me writing this description (because this is a scheduled upload), we don’t know if this is completely true; nor do we know of any of the other details. The main part about this trade idea is, that apparently, the Colorado Avalanche are acquiring a goalie.

  1. avs got fleeced. they'd probably have been better off with werner as backup.

there might not be a worse third-stringer in the league.

  2. throw Hutton in nobody would want him Buffalo hasnโ€™t figured it out get a Gold tender and you might not have to score A lot

  3. Well, it's not like the Sabres have some powerhouse d-core that was helping him a whole lot. Maybe the Avs d-core will take some of the pressure off of him.

  4. I think this is a temp backup acquisition only. If Frankie can't come by before trade deadline, they might trade for another goalie that has more pedigree. Miska was just completely unable to give any saves when he needed. I don't think Sakic was trying to make some ground shaking trade here.

  5. A poorly coached Sabres team, awful defense, and a group of players that packed it in is an awkward situation for a goaltender to perform in. Let's see the real Johansson in an actual NHL environment before passing judgement!!

  6. And onward he goes to Colorado to shine cause they actually play D and have a team in front of them where's the motivation to play in Buffalo really he knows he's going to a contender he will stop pucks in practice and in games now lol

  7. A low risk trade in exchange for a 6th round pick thatโ€™ll likely never reach the NHL. Itโ€™ll also lowers trade demands of other teams due to their desperate need for a backup. JJ was a former junior and AHL all star and expect playing 5-7 games in relief. AVs are not likely done, and still might add another Goalie.

  8. Does anyone else think that the Avs should try to get someone like a Reaves or a Lucic for the playoffs! Just a thought since they have depth scoring.

  9. His NHL record with the sabers has a lot to do with the team. Not easy being a goaltender when there is no defense.
