Montreal made this trade because it didn’t have room for Hoffman or Pitlick and it needed a R Point on the PP. This trade was a no brainer for the most underrated team in the NHL.

This might be Kent's best trade in terms of value. Hoffman wasn't likely to play a lot of game this season as well as pitlick and they wanted them out. And then they get a Second. A great back up allowing us to get rid of allen. Petry to either flip or be a veteran in the habs d core. And a decent prospect!
Pretty good trade for the Habs. Got rid of Hoffman, moved Pitlick.
Got a 2nd that we could flip in another trade to maybe get a 1st.
We'll obviously move Petry, but can also move either DeSmith or Allen.
hope Jo Jo Drouin does well on the Avs! his time with Habs was disastrous

Great show. I love how things are developing for the canadiens. The prospect pool is very deep now and I think Petrie will be traded to make it deeper. If u look at the trend nobody that we keep is older than 24. We will crush in 3 years. Ghg.

If it turns out Petry wants in, it would free up Savard to be traded. Petry and Matheson would be a killer first pairing, makes me chuckle to think, what if they still own their home? What if Jeff pines for the team he built his career on? He wasn't great when he got here, but when Weber was out, remember how good his game got? This could be a freaky unexpected turn of events. I liked the player, I understood that in a time like Covid etc, his wife would want to have her kids with her parents, what if her folks got sick, or kids, or Jeff, or her? I love his little boy, kid was a superstar!
They can trade for Petry, for nothing and have even more room in Salary Cap.

Let say Pitlick for the Goalie deSmith (31) who can be good with Montembeault … We could trade Allen for a good value while he is still good, and Légaré is a good player.. and we have Petry ($2.34M) to trade for something like a 3rd round? I like it.
