A Monster Trade Just Happened..



OK Guys, its time to take a look at a monster trade that just happened in the NHL.. The San Jose Sharks have sent star defensemen Erik Karlsson to the Pittsburgh Penguins, and in order to accomplish this they needed help from Kent Hughes and the Canadiens.. Jeff Petry is now a member of Montreal again, meanwhile Mike Hoffman and Rem Pitlick are finally out of town..

    Pitlick is highly underrated. I don't get the hate. Pair him with good players and he's better than Newhook

    Just a thought here, what if Hughes already knows that Mailloux isn't going to be allowed to play next year?

    I stopped watching during the season much of the last season that Petry was in MTL because I just couldn't stomach how horrible they were playing. So, I still like him. I do agree that his best days are behind him. But he may provide some guidance for the young ones.

    The new NHL is not only on the ice but in the front office. They are not former players who use to win 5-card stud on the bus(charter plane). Petry 100% does not want to be here. Every team knows are d-core is the most delicious in the NHL and as much as we want, we can not keep em all. Any play-off bound team wants a Petry but would they want a Hoffman? I can see Hughes pissing a lot of GMs off with his 3rd team involvement. Am sure Hughes is on a conference call and playing Jedi mind tricks to fleece another trade! New NHL? I will take the IVY league educated guy -over a former enforcer trying to figure out salary caps or can construct a 3 team trade ?

    Great video junkie I m so happy Hoffman s gone like you I never wanted him. And fear not bro word circulated immediately out of habs org that Kent is already in the works on a trade to move Petry. They have no intention s on Petry starting the season with them. The word is Kent has already been hard at dealing him away even before it went public. One of the news outlet already reported this Coming put of Montreal. I mentioned it in my episode today.

    Here's my take. Petry as trade bait for something better or a future draft pick, DeSmith taking Jake Allen's place and Legare stocking the shelf.
    Just sayin'.

    Jesus ! When I first heard this I was eating Rolaid's like they were M&M's ! But looking at it now I like the room Kent made for younger players to move up. Petry won't be staying and I think Kent is or has another move he's working on. GHG

    Petry bad mouthed the habs after he left and he has a NTC, the only reason he agree to get traded to Montreal is that he was promised that he would get traded by the habs before the season starts

    This trade was amazing for Montreal and ya we took Petry back but he’s gonna be gone soon again.. there is absolutely no way Montreal keeps him. Petry will be gone and we will get more assets for him 👏🏼👏🏼 amazing asset management by Kent Hughes. Penguins retained salary and now Petry’s Cap hit is 4,687,500 until 2025, Montreal could also Retain salary when they move him to increase the return if they would like to do that or just move him and get what you get but this is still a great move for Montreal. We got Matheson almost for nothing and we will still benefit from the trade that brought Matheson to Montreal… This is one of the reasons why I wasn’t to mad about Montreal taking Reinbacher at this years draft because Kent Hughes is really really good at making trades and he’s also very smart when it comes to managing the Cap space and asset management, So when you have a smart GM like him there are other ways to get Star/Superstar players other then the draft plus what we already have on the team is very good like Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Slafkovsky , Newhook and the defence prospects we have are amazing as well so Kent Hughes will have no problem adding a big time player threw free agency or trades and make this team better… Montreal next summer will have sooo much cap space i believe it’s almost more then 23 million we will have to spend and Kent Hughes will capitalize on that… This team is so much more exciting then it has been in YEARS!! Can’t wait!! Go Habs Go!

    Petry wanted to be traded because his wife wanted to live in the USA, but when Ducharme was fired he said he wouldn't mine staying with the Canadians.

    Great reaction junkie! I was the same mixed on this. Realized the pneumonia mess are working for me and kent made a good deal here. We have petry to move cheaply to someone in desperate need of a right off def man pp guy.
    We also can trade Jake the snake for something good. Casey from Mr dressups tree house is a decent backup and he is cheap at 1.9 per yr.
    Give Monty the keys to to the penthouse and the Lamborghini. Move preems as well. Goalies will need space like our young d men.

    Prospect for the ahl and a pick. It's like a bday party. You open a gift and it has wrapped gifts inside the gift. Keep it going kent!!

    Insane asset management. And people want to complain about being stuck with the petry contract for some reason when hell be easier to move than hoffman was going to be i think.

    Matheson and picks so far for Petry and we moved Hoffman. If they flip Petry, we just add to the haul!!! Way to go Kent!

    petry went back to mtl only cause he didn't want to go to sj and pens had to find a dance partner. kent did great on this one and will most probably send petry somewhere else. and now he can also get rid of allen, got a 2nd rounder and ditch out hoffman. want do you want more???

    Basically Pittsburgh gave the Habs Matheson and 2nd round pick and took on 25% of Petry’s salary for nothing
