It was a penalty, but it didn’t merit five minutes.
Two of my favorite players of all-time. NEVER want to say anything bad about The Great One- – and I truly don't; but acting was not his strong suit. I respect him for doing anything possible to gain an advantage to win – as I believe he ultimately respected Smitty and the Isles for doing the same, Thanks, as always, for the footage.

Smith was in their heads, no other way to put it. He took them completely off their game while he stayed on his. It paid off big time with the sweep. Bad news is the oilers didn’t sleep through the lessons and it paid off for them the following year. Great era of hockey
