Baba ganoush will have a breakout season this season for Seattle, mark my words. He has superstar written on his forehead with permanent marker.

Power played a ridiculous number of minutes for a rookie with a mediocre partner and was super solid. He is going to start racking up points.

I swear Beniers is actually like 38 years old or something.

Pretty sure all of these guys “broke out” already except for Slaf. But in terms of just “taking the next step”…

Slaf probably sees the easiest improvement since he didn’t play nearly as much and wasn’t that productive last season. Even just producing like the other guys did this year would be massive imo so he’s my #1.

I’d wager Johnson and Power have good potential to see big improvement just from their teams getting better. You’d think CBJ would have to bounce back after last year’s fiasco which should be a nice stimulus to Kent’s production, and Power is probably gonna have earned more minutes and responsibility on a team that is hungry and pushing for that offseason. I could easily see them break into a new tier just because of how the circumstances affect them.

As for the rest…my bias Johnston probably continues to grow well (especially if he puts on some pounds like Hughes did). I just don’t know if the lack of overall changes to the team will do anything remarkable for him. He’s certainly earned more responsibility like Power, but I’m still not sure how much that’ll change his role in the team for now. Obviously I want him to continue to be a magic bean of improvement. I have him pegged as a 3rd year star breakout kind of guy personally. Good rookie year, 2nd year to adapt a little to the size and slight improvement, 3rd year to put it all together.

Beniers seems really solid. I don’t really know what Seattle is doing so I don’t know if any situations could change for him. He’s just too good not to get better though. I doubt he has that “star breakout” this year, just cuz of how evenly distributed Seattle’s offense generally is.

McTavish will probably do well again for sure, but I don’t think he has a solid 2nd breakout until the team gets significantly better. Someone can educate me on if that’s a possibility on paper this year.

Owen Power is the best player on this list and is already a force defensively, so you can take him off the list. Beniers just won the Calder so you can take him off, too. Those guys already had their “break out” years.

I’ll go with Kent Johnson. There’s so much talent there. I think he has a future as one of the best forwards in the league.

I hope putting Beniers out there as 1C eventually pays off in his FO% climbing.

Beniers and Johnston will help their respective teams make a big playoff push

I am biased as a cbj fan but Kent Johnson

How many Owen Powers are we talking about here?

  11. CSIHoratioCaine

Kent Johnson looks like pennywise in that picture. So him?

  12. CreateorWither

Slaf is going to take another year or two at least imo

  13. PsychoWarper

In my totally unbiased opinion Matty Beniers

  14. Starmann30

I think Marchenko is going to have a better season than everyone of these guys

  15. PierogiGoron

I hope Beniers keeps getting better and better and emerges as Seattles first homegrown superstar!

No love for Matias Maccelli 🙁

So long as he stays healthy, can definitely see him having a banger year with even more tools at his disposal between rookies like Cooley and Guenther as well as vets like Zucker and Kerfoot and of course Keller, Schmaltz, Crouse, etc.

Of course, I also think Owen Power is gonna find another level to his game too.
